whats funny/sad is that Kevin Spacey is a really good actor (see esp. The Ref, Glengarry Glen Ross, "Wiseguy" season 2) but he's let it get to his head.

there's a sort of meta-joke in the movie where we see bobby filming his life story (a film within a film... clevah!) and someone says "you're too old for the part" and bobby storms off the set and goes "wtf i'm too old to play myself?"

With all due respect to miccio, I'm weighing in with my ZERO interest in seeing this movie. Zero interest in the film. Zero interest in Bobby Darin. It's like Meryl Streep getting all passionate and making a film about Ashlee Simpson's life (so far). Weird bad choices. Besides, I'm biopic'd out:

It's not that his (presumed) gayness has anything directly to do with the movie — I just find his denial of it further heightens his oddness. I keep thinking if he comes out he'll seem more human. His movies will still probably stink, though.

his "real" personality seems to exist dangerously close to the "smug" character he plays in so many movies--they share a few too many gestures, mannerisms, speech patterns, behaviors, etc. for comfort. it's not so much that i think kevin spacey is an asshole, which he probably is, but that he seems like he's "playing" himself in a pathetic way.
