Ways around a webmail ban at work?

So my workplace has banned webmail. The email bits of Lycos, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc are all no-nos, does anyone know any little-known email services that might have slipped through the net? Or if not, what other possible ways are there of getting typed words to people NOT using work email? I'm considering starting a blog for it, and giving the password to the mailee so we can post our words (not sure if blogger.com is banned too though). I don't like the lack of security of this though, any better ideas?

grafitti.net used to have an email service that did an end around some of that stuff, but usually all those things work for only a very short time before your IT staff figures it out and blocks them too.

Dean's obviously management material :-)

Webmail (including POP and IMAP) is a no-no at our workplace too. I ssh (secure telnet) to my unix shell account at my ISP and read mail using a unix mail reader. Since the mail sits on the ISP's box, there's no way the nasty stuff (viruses, worms) can get to your work network. The readers are text-only, but if any worthwhile attachments come along, just forward them along to your work account.

Most ISP's don't even offer shell access anymore, but if all else fails, Panix offers no-dialup shell for $100/year (and there may be other cheaper shell options that I don't know about.)

I've had some success using sites like babelfish.altavista that will translate web pages from you. You can select the option to convert any language to english which should have no effect on your english page and may trick your IT setup. Unfortunately, this can show up as "proxy avoidance" at times, so it's mostly luck.

truthmail.com is pretty good. You can have yourname@iservejesus.com free of charge.

i've used crapmail.com in the past - yeah yeah, so far, so undergrad - cos it's well obscure and thus under my office's radar. but really, it's a tough call.

crapmail, math.com, the proxify thing - all banned here but thankfully graffiti.net escaped the purge. thanks for the suggestions, esp Alex in SF.

give me your email password and i'll log in and copy and paste all your emails here so you can read them?

I've just signed up to flickr and, if I understand correctly, they give you an email address - maybe that's an alternative?

ha, ken thanks but mmm no ta.

flickr seems to work too so i'll move on to that when/if graffiti.net gets banned. just realised that trusty old friendster is also an option.
