Be sure to thank Judy for bringing in the bagels today, and don't forget that we have a dept meet at 2pm and a company-wide conference call at 3pm.

Remember to keep up the good work!!!!!

Don't forget, free pizza in the Grad Students Lounge at 3:00. And be sure to talk to Professor Halitosis about how ordinary folk don't understand the Laws of Probability.

No layoffs on a Friday or Monday, chances for suicide are too high.

By the way, our co-op student is leaving next week so make sure you sign the card and leave a donation if you can.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Would you like to sign this card for Joyce? Her two children were killed in a fiery accident over the weekend.

there's one manager at my office who brings them in every friday. last year on november 4th he brought them in on a thursday, smiling, and I overheard this exchange:

developer (spreading cream cheese on bagel): hey louis, you do know it's thursday not friday, right?
manager: of course, I just sort of wanted to celebrate.
developer: celebrate? celebrate what?
manager: oh, the confirmed results of the election!

(developer freezes, stops spreading cream cheese, without breaking eye contact puts half-cheesed bagel back in the paper bag and walks away)

people bring them in on their last day of work here. I'm not sure why, if you are lucky enough to find another job, you are expected to feed people.

Also, Jim's extended family recently passed away in a bizarre autoerotic asphyixiation incident, so there's an envelope going around to collect donations. We're buying him a condolences cake.

Where I work there is free food almost every day, and though the CEO sends severely hippily-worded "feel good" emails at least twice a week, they are easy to delete, and it's all made worthwhile by the size of my paycheck.

So, yeah. In a way I think we should thank Judy for bringing in the bagels. Shit, tomorrow I might even bring in doughnuts.

Did you see Spanglish? It was fun, nothing to make you think but it's by James L. Brooks, who made Broadcast News and As Good As It Gets.
