Been absolutely fucking sunny and gorgeous in the Pac NW,.. and freezing.. but not fatally freezing. I love it. I don't even have to twist and turn when walking around to avoid getting sprayed by cars who drive over street puddles, now that they are ice puddles.

I heard California has been teh suck for two weeks, aside from purty snow. Snow level is 2000 ft. in SoCal???!!!

It has rained in the Bay, but a nice rain.

.adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

The hills of the East Bay are lush and green, the fog and clouds hug the horizon like...angry cotton wool.

.adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

lexington, kentucky has sucked. it has been downright warm-60 degrees or so and raining like a mofo. usually it is at least in the 40s and NOT RAINING. I DO NOT LIVE IN SEATTLE, GOD.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 20:50 (twenty years ago)

OMG Emily! The weather has been great! GET ONE RAINCOAT.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

It was -50 C (that's -58 F) when left for work this morning.
TOP THAT!

Lexington, Kentucky has more rainfall, both in January and annually, than does Seattle

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 20:53 (twenty years ago)

well pardon me, al roker.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 20:57 (twenty years ago)

wait. since when is 2 inches more than 5?
get one mathemagician!

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:00 (twenty years ago)

That's pretty fascinating, about our average annual rainfall being greater than Seattle's. I wonder if we too have as many days of rainfall leading up to that amount, or if our rain falls in much larger bursts?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:03 (twenty years ago)

Are the drops fat like beachballs?

.adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

oops, I was reading Spokane for January. Nevertheless, Lexington's 44.6 annual beats Seattle's 38.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:06 (twenty years ago)

No, .adam, but how cool would that be?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

i hate this rain! oh, i looked at the numbers and it appears that they have much drier summers and rainier cold months.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

Seattle is probably 'rainy' - overcast, potentially damp, perhaps some light rain - far more often, especially outside summer (note that summer and even spring have very low precipitation), but rainy doesn't actually produce as much rain. Also, it's a precipitation chart. How much snow do the two cities get, comparatively?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

aha! snow! i wish we had snow right now. i am weather igonorant, but i am pretty sure we get more here than they do in seattle.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:14 (twenty years ago)

oh also, outside my office window is a lady changing a flat tire in the rain while someone, presumably her lifemate, watches and smokes a cigarette. chivalry is officially dead. she weighs roughly 90 pounds and actually is soaking wet.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:15 (twenty years ago)

Lexington gets much more snow than Seattle, but Seattle's snow is concentrated in its high precipitation months, further reducing its rainfall, it would seem

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:17 (twenty years ago)

She weighs 90 pounds...is it HOLLY?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 21:19 (twenty years ago)

get one mathemagician!

OH MY GOD
