you know how fucking hard it is to find a front plate bracket for a 95 olds cutlass ciera? pretty goddam hard. my stepdad ended up bolting a piece of plywood to the bumper and we screwed the plate onto that, it's pretty jed clampett but whatev.

I once got a warning from a state trooper for having a Minnesota plate on the front and an Arkansas plate on the back. I told the officer that the front one was for decoration only, since it had already expired. Apparently, you still can't do that.

you shoulda said 'it's for fooling cops after bank robberies'.

Weird... I see that one state for decoration one for real thing pretty often. I always figured it was legit.

You should have snapped a digital picture of the cop and put him on your front plate.

What sort of hick joint requires only one license plate?

Rear window stickers are the place for the "haw haw" things anyway.

Sasha (sgh), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 05:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Texas is another state that requires license plates on both the front and back of one's vehicle. I've never seen a vehicle being sold locally that didn't have a space for a front license plate as well as one for the back, so this isn't a bother. Also, Sasha OTM here.

Dude. There's a possibility you'd have to go to court as well?? Dude. Hon, this would be one of those events where you should do what is the least expensive option. It'd cause you less heartache in the long run, too. (I understand their compulsion to enforce those regulations, BTW, esp if they actually do follow through with their semi-promise. If they still keep in some kind of fine, however... ugh, no.)

Samantha Baker (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 07:28 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, i was planning on getting the license and the plates, since i'll need them anyway. fun fact: registration in oregon is 1/4th the cost that it is in michigan!

i think i'm just gunna call the officer and ask him how this works. "so, uh, do i just show up and plea for a dismissal of fines?"

This is what you see on most frontal plates around here.

ohio = both front and back plates required. I once got a ticket for having a tilted front plate.

my current front plate is held on by some sort of concrete mixture
