question for writers: writing something, handing it in, then rewriting it and handing it in again - C or D?

does anyone else suffer from this problem? i do work, hand it in, then after emailing it, i agonise over its quality, find errors and things that i deem in need of improvement, then rewrite it and resend it. i then pore over the original, see that it was actually not that bad at all (most of the time), and wonder why i rewrote it and wonder if i made the right judgment. this is ruining my schedule.

Editors exist for a reason, yo.

some ed's arent that great though and get rid of all the best bits or mess up the flow.

But it seems that you're worried you're doing that to youself anyway.

yeah..... sometimes i think you (or i, rather) just have to leave a piece alone, irrespective of any mistakes or room for improvement, rather than re-read it and agonise over and over like a madman.

This is the kind of thing I'd be really prone to doing, so when I finish something I force myself to not look at it, not even for typos, until it's printed.

do you do a lot of work last minute though, lex? cos thats what i seem to find myself doing, which might be why i always rethink it *after* i send it. but then if i examined it too much beforehand, i might totally wreck it from repeated redrafting and rewriting.

i hate writing!

ALL my work seems to be done last minute, which is a horrible habit I must break. Having said that, I think it's easier to then put it aside: if I'm rushing to get an article in like two minutes before the deadline, it's like an automatic reaction to just turn the computer off and collapse after it's been sent.
