Does anyone else pronounce the name Colin the same way as Colin Powell?

CoH-lin Powell is the only Colin I know with this odd pronounciation!

Why is that, and is he the only CoH-lin in the village?

i've known other 'coh-lin's as well as other 'col-in's. sample size too small but maybe a nationality thing?

Since Powell, everyone assumes I pronounce it that way, but I've never met anyone else who does.

Colin Croft and Colin Stuart both played Test cricket for the West Indies, and both very definitely pronounce their first name the same way as Cowdrey, or Friels, or even the daschsund who votes in the Rotten Borough that Blackadder tried to get Baldrick elected to.

And yet when you move that pronunciation into a flat American accent, it becomes somehow very unpleasant.
