transferring obsolete open-reel video to DVD

Does anyone know of a good, reputable source that will transfer obsolete videotape formats to DVD, or at least VHS? I've got some footage from 1979 that I'd like to view, but I can't find anyplace here in STL that can do it, and I don't just want to send the tape off to some random address off the Internet.

That "obsolete [open-reel] videotape format" is called "film" isn't it?

http://www.specsbros.com/ and http://www.vidipax.com are both reputable and can handle lots of obsolete formats.

What's the footage? If it's worth the extra cost, you might also want to make a BetaSP or DigiBeta master in addition to the DVD since then you won't have to go back to the original if you need more or better copies later.

The footage is of me in 1979, as a 12-year-old on Kidsworld, a CBS TV news-for-kids type show. It was about our seventh-grade computer class. I had dinner with my old teacher not long ago and she gave me an open reel of tape that doesn't appear to have any markings or anything. It's probably wonderfully dorky. I'll put stills up on my website if and when I can figure out how to get it transferred!
