Amazingly i seem to have lost weight over the xmas period, not weighed myself but i've been able to move up another notch on my belt. How's everyone else done?

leigh (leigh), Thursday, 6 January 2005 11:14 (twenty years ago)

I gained some weight (and lost muscle mass, sob) over the weeks leading up to it, due to working full-time and not going to the gym, combined with excessive takeaways.

However last week I was very ill with the flu and couldn't keep any food down for several days. I weighed myself Monday and discovered I've lost the pre-xmas weight and more, and my weight is now at its lowest ebb in years. This is handy, but I don't recommend it as a dieting strategy--I would much rather have been having fun on NYE rather than losing weight in that manner.

I'm going back to the gym as soon as my lingering cough goes away--I miss having stamina and flexibility.

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 6 January 2005 11:25 (twenty years ago)

Nice going, Leigh - you seem to be so in the losing-weight zone I'm not surprised! I managed to not put on the 7-10 pounds I was anticipating in December, so I'm finding myself in the rather unusual position of starting January weighing less than 13 stone - a whole 9 pounds lighter than this time last year.

Which means that my motivation to diet is rather weaker, but I know I could still do with losing a fair bit - I just need to psyche myself up for a few days before getting stuck in.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 6 January 2005 11:26 (twenty years ago)

i've lost 4.5 kgs in one month because my upstairs neighbour keeps waking me at about 2 or 3am every day and i can't get back to sleep so i roam about my apartment and hence add about 4-5 hours 'exercise time' to each day. i thought you were supposed to put on weight if you didn't sleep properly; that it was supposed to make you crave sweet fatty fixes, but all i want is a fucken axe and 2 minutes with the prick upstairs. i should be thanking him cause it will mean i reach 60kgs before i turn 30, which is an arbitrary and pointless goal of mine.

remless (not entirely unhappy), Thursday, 6 January 2005 11:56 (twenty years ago)

I put on 3 pounds over Christmas. Although this sets me back a bit, I'm very very relieved that it wasn't a whole lot more!

I suspect it was due to:
1) My brother eating all the (mince)pies
2) Religiously exercising every day

It's the drinking that does me in every time! I was going to have a dry January to reverse the ill effects, but boys keep dragging me out and forcing pints of bitter down my throat.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Friday, 7 January 2005 09:57 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
Might I revive this thread, to say HALF A STONE GONE BYE BYE? Might I? Thank you very much boys and gurls! I must say I note this loss nowhere on my pot-bellied crock of shit body but would the scales lie to me? Probably, probably they would, wouldn't they.

Still, even if it's misguiding, I have turned into the GYM GURU. 15 minutes on the running machine? Peasy! Stand aside Paula bloody Radcliffe.

Sarah C, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 13:44 (twenty years ago)

Whereas I am still a fat cow.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 13:51 (twenty years ago)

Good going Starbar. I think my diet is starting next Monday as I have just been to BODEAN'S and on Friday will be going to the OXO TOWER which is so fattening it's even named after food.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 13:53 (twenty years ago)

Hurrah for Starry indeed! Hurrah!

I am pleased to report that despite having comfort food stuffed down my throat all weekend by a boy, I actually hit eleven and a half stone for the first time since 2003.

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 13:54 (twenty years ago)

(xpost)

I will be disappointed if my dinner there consists of anything other than a single artfully arranged stock cube.

sgs (sgs), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 13:55 (twenty years ago)

Aha my secret feeder plans have not been in vain. Hahaha. What? Hello! Another steak and ice cream sandwich?

I seriously can't feel this weight loss anywhere, but recently the improvement in my fitness levels at the gym has been utterly shocking. We'll see if this continues, I suppose. I can't say I've been particularly dieting either!

Mmmm is SGS taking you up the Oxo Tower Mark? I'm sorry, I hate myself for that.

hoho xpost!

Starry Sarah, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 13:58 (twenty years ago)

Anyone else here attempting BFL?

I lost 5kgs before Xmas, thought I'd put it all back on again but only put 1.5kgs back on. Psychologically, this is brilliant.

papa november (papa november), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

What is BFL?

Anyone got any ideas how I could lose a stone before my birthday (in a month)?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

go vegan. seriously. you'll lose a few pounds in the first few weeks, then blam - you'll probably drop about ten in the weeks after that.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:00 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, but think of the shit you have to eat (and the ambrosia you're not allowed to).

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:03 (twenty years ago)

God I'm not sure how I'd handle being vegan! No dairy!!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:03 (twenty years ago)

Supposedly people who do our food intolerance testing programme drop a lot of weight very quickly and immediately, but I wouldn't reccomend it if you don't have several hundred pounds kicking around saying SPEND ME SPEND ME like none of us do.

I wonder if I can persuade them to test me in lieu of my contract being renewed...

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:04 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to get that done, but if they said wheat I'd have to say tough!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, me, too. Well, not wheat obviously as I don't really eat that. But if they said "coffee" or "cheese" I'd be devastated!

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:06 (twenty years ago)

i ate really well when i was vegan. i'm not a big fan of meat or cows' milk to begin with, so it wasn't a huge hardship. then again, nyc is really vegan-friendly so that's a big reason why i didn't feel too deprived.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

Sorry Lauren, I was being tongue in cheek. I could probably do it if I tried, but I certainly don't want my long-term diet to go the veggie/vegan route, so a moderation of what I like is probably the best move for me.

I can't see myself doing any exercise until it's warmer, although I did buy a skipping rope last weekend (I haven't used it yet).

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

I can't seem to lose any weight at all. I put on around 15 pounds in 3 months last year due to various problems with meds (Efexxor is the tool of the devil, btw) and I just can't take it off. I think I may be developing a milk allergy, and this has something to do with it. (Can't process the fat?) I am going to the doctor today so maybe she'll tell me what's what.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:22 (twenty years ago)

I've started yoga classes, but once a week isn't really going to help me that much. I wish I could be one of those types of ppl that can get up at 6 & do some exercise before I go to work, but I just can't! I don't really have any trouble being vegetarian, but vegan seems impossible. What would I have to avoid? Dairy, eggs, what else?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

Milk, cheese, yoghurt, eggs, honey.

All the things that make life worthwhile, IHMO!

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

Honey?! Really? I never knew that.

(it's not like we kill or abuse the bees, apart from a puff of smoke every now and again. And we even build them a home!)

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:27 (twenty years ago)

Not all vegans are alike, but I know many that don't eat honey. It does come from animals, after all.

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:29 (twenty years ago)

it's fine, mark. vegans are used to abuse!

xpost - dairy and eggs are biggies, but theoretically you should avoid anything made with animal products/by-products. this is what a typical vegan day for me was:

some kind of hippie cereal w/ vanilla soy milk and fruit
vegetable sushi or roasted veg wrap, pumpkin cookie from hippie bakery
sauteed tofu, sesame broccoli, rice

snacks: dark chocolate, homemade popcorn, crisps, fruit, granola, toast, etc

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:32 (twenty years ago)

I pretty much avoid all animal products (apart from dairy & eggs obv) so it shouldn't be too much of a bind tbh.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

But honey comes from animals in a mutually beneficial, renewable way. It just seems stupid and bloody-minded. Animalist bastards, these vegans.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

Matt's basically vegan and wheat-free at the moment, though not 100% strictly. I share his smoothies and eat whatever he cooks me, but I don't enjoy preparing food enough to give up the sandwich option...

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:39 (twenty years ago)

Cutting out wheat does seem to help a lot of people lose weight - I cut out wheat and most dairy after being diagnosed with colitis last summer and lost almost a stone straight away - and it's stayed off.

Mind you, being a vegetarian in the first place and then not being able to eat dairy or wheat either, doesn't leave a whole lot of food left to get fat on...

Mog, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

A friend of mine was recently disagnosed as gluten intolerant & she has lost so much weight by cutting it out of her diet.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

I think my problem is that I've been off & on Slimming World for so long that it no longer works as a diet for me anymore. According to it I can eat unlimited amounts of fruit, pasta, pots, rice but how can that work? I don't even know what I shoudl & shouldn't eat anymore, all I know is what the Slimming World diet thinks of particular foods.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

go vegan. seriously. you'll lose a few pounds in the first few weeks, then blam - you'll probably drop about ten in the weeks after that.

Well, this didn't happen to me, more likely I just gained weight. You can eat unhealthy shit as vegan too. For the first six months I kept eating whole jars of cocoa nougat spread, because it was the closest vegan equivalent to chocolate I could find.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:05 (twenty years ago)

Well it's hardly surprising then Tuomas tbh!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:10 (twenty years ago)

ha. yes, the success of my suggestion is totally contingent upon not gorging on dairy-free chocolate and chips and cola and things like that.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

I had to give up caffeine too, so cola and coffee went right out the window.

Luckily curries are fine, else I'd have really had no reason to live.

Mog, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

"I don't even know what I should & shouldn't eat anymore, all I know is what the Slimming World diet thinks of particular foods."

Perhaps you could go see an idependent dietician? they are more middle of the road than most diet organisations.

isadora (isadora), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

I think I might try that, but I'm sure it'll be expensive & I just don't have the cash at the moment!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 27 January 2005 09:32 (twenty years ago)

Fuck fuck fuck - I'm back to a smidgeon under 13 stone, and that smidgeon won't exist after my posh dinner tomorrow night. Diet starts for real on Monday...

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 27 January 2005 11:37 (twenty years ago)

I'm sorry to keep harping on this, PinX0r, but I really think that getting some kind of nutritional/food intolerance advice will not only help you with your weight, but also might control your migraines!

But, same as you, though I'd like to do it, (I wonder how much of my mood disorders are diet related myself) I've not got the money either. :-(

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 11:43 (twenty years ago)

Well I'm due a trip back to the docs soon actually Kate, cos his first solution is not helping, so maybe he could refer me or something. I cannot identify any food/drink myself that may be causing this.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 27 January 2005 11:46 (twenty years ago)

I have to announce that I have lost 8 kgs since mid december to present. I have also lost 1% of my total body fat. Yay!

papa november (papa november), Friday, 28 January 2005 06:53 (twenty years ago)

i'm starting to get back into yoga (for exercise, but also to relieve aches/tension). now i just need the discipline to stick with it.

amanda lear (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 28 January 2005 07:42 (twenty years ago)

I have a question that is not strictly about losing weight, cos I'm not trying to lose any (actually I'm trying to eat a lot more amnd work out more which will probably lead to weight gain), but it is about working out so maybe someone here has a suggestion?

I have a really weird back. Like my butt and thighs are pretty meaty for my size, but my back is like skeletal. It's weird, like I have muscles there, I can see them just fine, but my spine down to the back of my hipbones, it's like there's nothing covering them at all. Seriously, if I roll my shoulders forward a little bit you can see every bone back there. Which is weird, whatever, but the problem is that I started doing floor exercises again and I LOOK LIKE I'VE BEEN WHIPPED. I am covered in bruises, especially on my hipbones. At my old apartment, I had a carpet I could lay the mat down on, and at my old gym they had like very thick padded foam we could do the floor exercises on. Here, I have hardwood floors and I put down the mat with a towel on it and I'm still looking like I was just tortured in some BDSM extravaganza. It's to the point where lying in bed hurts because of the bruises.

Do I just give up on working out my abs? Does anyone have a suggestion for mats or extra padding? Do I actually have to go and purchase a 3 inch thick piece of foam that can't be rolled up?

It's really gross and unsightly and making me want to just go back to my old weight stablization method of smoking 2 packs and ingesting only coffee :(

Allyzay Dallas Multi-Pass (allyzay), Friday, 4 February 2005 18:36 (twenty years ago)

I've finally passed the 4 stone mark, seemed to take ages to shift. Am noticing a big difference now but still have a fair bit to take off.

leigh (leigh), Monday, 7 February 2005 11:37 (twenty years ago)

Ally, try putting a cushion under the bits where it hurts. Or exercise on an eiderdown type thing. Or get one of those mat things for your own home. I can't do situps for the same reason - not my back, but my lower back and ass get horribly bruised.

(However, take note that excessive bruising can sometimes be a symptom of anaemia - so if this isn't the only thing that causes bruising, you might want to take an iron supplement or something.)

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Monday, 7 February 2005 11:40 (twenty years ago)

Ally try one of those inflatable fitball things. You can do all sorts of ab exercises using it to support your lower back. It feels a bit awkward to use one at first, and you've got to make sure you're balanced on it in the right way so that it supports in the right places and you don't end up overextending, but the situps I do with one of those are more exercise per sit-up than just regular floor stuff. One important thing when using them though (for me at least) is to do as many back muscle exercises, side sit-ups whatever, as regular sit-ups on it.

sgs (sgs), Monday, 7 February 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

xpost with kate up there

you probably know what I mean already, but here's a picture:

sgs (sgs), Monday, 7 February 2005 11:46 (twenty years ago)

I feel like I've hit some kind of weight plateau which is making me a bit discouraged. My weight stays within the same 3-5 lb range and has done for a month. I'm still eating sensibly and exercising quite a lot so I don't really understand. I guess I am noticing a difference in terms of clothes that I can wear now which I couldn't wear before. I keep telling myself "muscle weighs more than fat" but that doesn't really help when I face the scales every morning. :-(

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Monday, 7 February 2005 11:48 (twenty years ago)

2005 was to have been the year I cut down on sweets. In some ways I've been successful. I worship at the altar of yogurt, I could eat it 8 times a day. My tastebuds do an ecstatic dance when I eat the plain stuff now; the presweetened fruity or vanilla yogurt is just too sweet.

But in these attempts to switch to less-sweet foods, I've become addicted to Trader Joe's Chili Lime pistachios. MMM spicy fat! So, um, still no weight loss.

jennpb (jennpb), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 13:24 (nineteen years ago)

diets suck, but then again so does being unhappy with yourself! :-(

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 13:25 (nineteen years ago)

I had managed to lose a stone since christmas - losing a little in feb and march by just giving up booze and then losing the rest since June on south beach, but I just put on 5lb while on holiday in Porto for 5 days, so back to phase 1 i go :0(

Vicky (Vicky), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 13:36 (nineteen years ago)

I bet it was worth it. Was there BABY GOAT?

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 13:37 (nineteen years ago)

we didn't have baby goat, but i had baby baby lamb - the main bit of the chops was smaller than the tip of my thumb!

there was also lots of salt cod cakes deep fried, and tuna fritters, and ham, and lots and lots of octopus, and rice and potatoes, and vinho verde and that eggy bread with cinnamon and syrup, and almond pie, and custard tarts, and rice cakes, and rabbit, and pudim, and those yummy croissant type things for breakfast with plum jam and hot chocolate. Actually, a 1lb a day wasn't too bad really.

Vicky (Vicky), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 13:42 (nineteen years ago)

Haha way to go with the diet support, well done us!

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

I've kind of stalled - not putting anything on but not taking anything off either. Lothian bus drivers are striking next week so i'm faced with a 7 mile round trip to on foot so perhaps these pounds will start to drop off again.

leigh (leigh), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 13:54 (nineteen years ago)

Tim, you could be bragging a lot more on this thread :)

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 14:29 (nineteen years ago)

I'm doing horribly at losing weight, but I'm running a lot more, so at least I'm healthy, I guess. I'm currently hoping for nice calf muscles to build up, that would somehow make me feel less bad about the other parts of my body I don't really like.

And chili lime pistachios sound really good. My fatty snack of choice is pepperoni...shh, at least I'm eating my vegetables now.

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

How many pounds are in a stone?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 19:16 (nineteen years ago)

I can never remember whether its 14 or 20 (so it's most likely 16)

South beach isn't all bad - we just had rib-eye steak, spinach, mushrooms and garlicky chickpea mash (3 cloves of garlic and still vic couldn't taste it!)

Porkpie (porkpie), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 19:19 (nineteen years ago)

It's 14.

And I'm happy to report that all this eating healthily thing and not drinking (except for last night oh dear) and walking to the bus stop thing appears to be paying off as I seem to have lost 2lbs over this past week.

(OK, it's probably only water loss, but still. It made me happy.)

Masonic Boom (kate), Thursday, 4 August 2005 07:14 (nineteen years ago)

Well done Kate! The opposite seems to have happened to me. OK so today is a new day right? Weetabix for breakfast.

Pink (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 August 2005 07:28 (nineteen years ago)

I have three pounds left to lose.

I am going to be very mean, and tell my not so nice boss that I made goal, as she has fallen off that wagon months ago. (Also reaching goal means getting recruited to work for WW which is my official excuse for leaving my current job.)

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Thursday, 4 August 2005 12:25 (nineteen years ago)

one month passes...
for those who have done weight watchers, can you share any good secret low-point snacks or meals?

nb this information is for my husband, who is seeing success! but it's still early on and he's so snacky. he is easting lots of fruits and veggies though so that's good!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 8 September 2005 17:28 (nineteen years ago)

Is he a snacky ho?

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 8 September 2005 17:30 (nineteen years ago)

(sorry, I think that's a blountism)

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 8 September 2005 17:31 (nineteen years ago)

teeny, i don't know anything about weight watchers, but i do know from personal experience that if a snack has a lot of protein in it, i'm less hungry after. cottage cheese is a great high protein/low cal/fat option for that. nuts are good, but sometimes people don't like the high fat content. I keep string cheese around when i want a little something & want to feel like i'm not being *totally* healthy.

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 8 September 2005 17:47 (nineteen years ago)

I am now in the mid 12 stones!

so I figure I have lost about 0.8 of a stone

I'm doing OK

still gunning though

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 8 September 2005 18:12 (nineteen years ago)

I've been infecting the chicago thread with all my talk of weight lifting. tonight I'm doing a deadlift for the first time. I'm pretty excited about it!

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 8 September 2005 18:17 (nineteen years ago)

i have lost 16 lbs. since may, but thats it! i keep losing 5 lbs then going on a wild eating binge and gaining it back

BAH

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Thursday, 8 September 2005 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

That's still impressive, Mandee!

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 8 September 2005 18:27 (nineteen years ago)

16 pounds is A LOT. Nothin' to be anything but proud of!

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 8 September 2005 18:29 (nineteen years ago)

I hope that didn't come off the wrong way. I just meant that 16 is quite an accomplishment. I can't lose 2 lbs to save my life.

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 8 September 2005 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

Quaker chewy granola bars are good candy bar replacement if you have a sweet tooth

And I like Rold Gold cheddar or honey mustard pretzels, 17 (or 19?) pretzels a serving

They are all around 100 - 120 calories, I think.

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Thursday, 8 September 2005 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

So I've went back on Weight Watchers hardcore. I've been on 3 weeks and lost 11 pounds. From 196 to 185, I'm only 10 pounds above my lowest adult weight. 165 is my first goal, then 143, which is smack dab in the middle of they healthy range for my height. Also, but BMI finally dipped down into healthy, rather than overweight. Things are going good.

Jeff-PTTL (Jeff), Monday, 19 September 2005 11:40 (nineteen years ago)

Blimey! Well done you. First week of me back on my diet & I lost 2 pounds, so not quite as impressive as your loss.

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Monday, 19 September 2005 11:48 (nineteen years ago)

Nice going Jeff! And you Pink!

I am still hovering round the 12 and a half stone (175 pounds) mark, oscillating upwards 3 or 4 pounds every now and again. I really need some kind of incentive to help me shift another 5 or 6 pounds and become properly gorgeous okay-looking. Any ideas?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 19 September 2005 11:50 (nineteen years ago)

I find setting myself goals works. So for me there are 3 goals, a wedding in October, Christmas & then my 30th b/day in Feb. *gasps* *cries*

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Monday, 19 September 2005 11:57 (nineteen years ago)

It's that first 5 pounds, once I get past that I learn to detest food. Eating just becomes less and less relevant to me. That is of course when I hit the plateu right above my goal weight.

Jeff-PTTL (Jeff), Monday, 19 September 2005 12:56 (nineteen years ago)

Wow, good for you, Jeff. I'm still in the middle (actually the end, hopefully) of an eating too much/not going the gym phase.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 19 September 2005 13:05 (nineteen years ago)

i've lost another 3 lbs.. yay!

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 19 September 2005 13:07 (nineteen years ago)

i lost about a stone since january by resuming regular gym-going, which has come as a total surprise. but a nice surprise!

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 19 September 2005 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

My bf (n/a) and I just joined a gym Thursday night. We went Friday night, Sunday morning first thing, and are going again after work today. :-D

Kittens Licking Cakes (coco), Monday, 19 September 2005 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

I found those little bite-sized rice cakes that taste like caramel corn, seven cakes = a one-point serving. Problem is mr teeny likes them too much and will go through three points' worth.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 19 September 2005 14:12 (nineteen years ago)

teeny, I know! I ate a bag of those once and realised afterwards, I could have had a small sandwich for the points value.

The full size Cracker Jack flavored rice cakes are good if you have a sweet tooth.

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Monday, 19 September 2005 19:41 (nineteen years ago)

four weeks pass...
http://www.weightwatchers.com/ChartFX6/Temp/CFT1017_1158083020.png

getting better. I actually just started a new unrelated medication, and one of the side effects is weight loss!! hooray!!!

Jeff-PTTL (Jeff), Monday, 17 October 2005 15:12 (nineteen years ago)

You actually made a chart! Wow! Congratulations by the way.

nathalie, a bum like you (stevie nixed), Monday, 17 October 2005 15:16 (nineteen years ago)

I'm going to stay away from bread and meat for a couple of weeks. Trying to eat fruit instead of sweets. (I may allow myself some candy on Halloween, though.) I busted out my juicer.

Scott has cooked me special diet dinners the past couple of nights. Last night I didn't give in to the temptation to drink beer though others were.

I was losing pounds steadily after having the baby, but I seem to have hit a plateau. At least I'm back to my prepregnant weight.

They say not to use breastfeeding as a diet strategy, but that's what I'm doing (while taking vitamins so the kid gets nutrients).

Woohoo! Congratulations! I think I'll need to get on this thread once I have delivered. I had already gained some weight before becoming pregnant and now it's getting worse. I'll have to drop about 15 kilos (at the very least) after the delivery. Boo.

Oh my god, congratulations! Woo, Tokyo Rose!

Nice going. I am 12 stone eight and a half as of this morning. I guess it's a minor triumph to fluctuate so little as my thirties eat away at my trim physique :/

I seem to have shed all the weight that i put back on. Annoyingly this doesn't seem to be translating when i step on the scales, there's a stubborn couple of pounds that i need to shed to be the lightest i've been since the diet began. About the only good thing about the panic attacks i've been having is the lack of appetite.

Thanks guys! I think the best part is I got my blood pressure down to a normal rate. And my 20-30 minute walk to the post office is doesn't feel like a big effort anymore.

Now I have to keep the weight off. Eek.

Nathalie, are you planning on breast feeding? That can burn a lot of calories!

Well done!

I love south beach. I've lost another half stone since August, with lots of cheating going on, and can now fit in a suit I bought in 2001!

Help!

I'm tired and VERY emotional and I tend to overeat in these situations. There are TWO boxes of mince pies in the cupboard and I really don't want to eat them all. But I might! STOP ME!

I blame my loss on stress. Stress and smoking and not dating someone whose idea of "dinner" is pasta and more pasta.
