Having A Good Memory C/D?

I mean, I like to think I have one but it just doesn't seem to remember the right things (i.e. useful things).

And sometimes you can bug people so they say:

"You remember all these unimportant facts about people but you don't care about who they really are."

I don't know. Sometimes I can recall a lot of weird things, but people who can remember full passages from movies and tv shows creep me out.

What was the question again?

I can remember facts, but I'm terrible at associating faces with names (I had a problem with this in an office where everyone in my department looked alike).

I'm bad with names too, and this is not a good thing on ILX, where all you have is names!

Huk-L, Thursday, 6 January 2005 20:26 (twenty years ago)

Here's something besides a name, Huk. This is me last fall trying to look retarded or something. I can't remember.

I will remember you always from now on, Mitch Black.

Huk-L, Thursday, 6 January 2005 20:37 (twenty years ago)

Who are you people and what are you doing in my computer?

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 6 January 2005 20:39 (twenty years ago)

Mitch Black would be a good name for a TV PI.

Huk-L, Thursday, 6 January 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

I don't remember if I've already told this story here (tee hee) but I used to work with a set decorator who used to sing me the old jingle for Lite Brite but with 'Mike White'. 'Mike White, makin' things with Mike White'. His mysterious demise could be Mitch Black's first case.

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 6 January 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

And he could be played by Michael Ian Black as Johnny Bluejeans.

Huk-L, Thursday, 6 January 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

See, that screenwriting collaboration thing you were talking about is humming along smoothly. What's our target demographic? Young, underemployed head trauma victims or sparkle fetishists?

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 6 January 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

Let's do lunch. I hear Mandy Patinkin is out of work.

Huk-L, Thursday, 6 January 2005 20:52 (twenty years ago)

I loved him in that movie where he played the Spaniard who had spent his entire life trying to avenge his father's death by killing Barbara Streisand. Or am I remembering that wrong?

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 6 January 2005 20:55 (twenty years ago)

Lewis Black would be >>>>> Michael Ian Black.

my sister remembered something we did that i have no recollection of. apparently, we called all of our guy friends (like 5-6 years ago) and asked them questions like "who's cuter" and things like that. she said we had fun, too.

Bingo!

six years pass...

so you know the thing about how the past is illusory because it doesn't persist? well anyhow, to me some memories are "realer" than others. for instance, i have this memory of working at my first job when i was a teenager with these two girls who were sisters and who seemed impossibly, glamorously old even though they were probably all of 16 years old at the time...and i just remember them being incredibly sweet and also sort of exotic b/c they went to school like ten towns away from me. but now when i think of that, it seems so mythical and dreamlike and like there's no way this ever "actually" happened. and the thing is, it was like, probably 24 years ago; so, ancient history, but not all that much ancient history. in that, like, i have memories from when i was seven years old or so that are far more vivid. anyway. yeah.

memory is freaky sometimes.
