1/waiting at bus-stop, saw a couple of crows literally blown out of the sky (slightly comical sight = crow staggering around on ground before taking off again)

2/had to wait 45m for bus, b/c one didn't show up. The one that didn't show got pulled b/c some part blew off it.

3/bus journey re-routed b/c trees had blown down on normal route

4/on new/temporary route, branches of larger tree scrape roof of single decker bus. Bus driver phones depot - usually one can drive a double-decker under this branch omg tree is going to fall over we need alt alt route

5/driving over tyne on mysteriously not closed high-level redheugh bridge, but veers alarmingly from side to side. Look at river 100' below (or whatever) & get t3h ph34r.

6/ 2/3 of the way over this bridge wind blows roof vent of bus open, and mighty throughdraught blows bus doors open also.

7/many roof tiles on ground near station, also builder's skip/dumpster has had a lot of its contents blown all over place. What a mess!!

8/on train newcastle - s.shields, wind blows train window open, and then blows diffuser of one of the fluorescent lights!!

9/mortar and tiles on ground on street leading to shop.

10/ friend who was going to visit has just phoned to call off, because the wind has blown 1/2 of his house roof off!! Good grief!

Is it just us in n e england, or is it super-windy across the uk to-day?

It was really windy at points yesterday over here in OC -- and rainy as well! First proper winter storm in a long while. I've actually been loving it, we need the water and the air's probably been at its cleanest for years thanks to all the crap being washed out of it.

The last couple of days in Scotland have been very windy. Not so much today though.

Woke up here in Hull this morning to find our back garden wall has blown down. Bollocks.

Just phoned me Mum and she says it's blowing a gale down in Devon.

Anyone in Wales or Ireland want to complete the picture?

Where are you?

KeithW (kmw), Saturday, 8 January 2005 17:01 (twenty years ago)

West Central, not far from Glasgow

Onimo (GerryNemo), Saturday, 8 January 2005 17:03 (twenty years ago)

I'm in east central right now. Might be coming our direction then, cause it was a clear morning.
