if i were to cut my hair and get a job, smoke some fags and shoot some pool, would it really change a thing?

and how does one destroy it?

John (jdahlem), Saturday, 8 January 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

about renting a flat.

John (jdahlem), Saturday, 8 January 2005 19:38 (twenty years ago)

seriously what is wrong with you

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 8 January 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

All I can think of is Jimmy Carter. (I realize for you young punks that's ancient history but one day people will laugh at you for remembering a time before mp3s and broadband.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 8 January 2005 19:41 (twenty years ago)

cutting hair and job getting are not necessary but billiards and smoking might work wonders. disciplining one's mind to concentrate on pool on a regular basis has changed the lives on many young men. if it takes a job to afford pool rates and smokes though that's a dilemma. at all costs do not cut hair.

this isn't meant to be a me-thread roxy, a you-thread just as much. a thread for all of us.

John (jdahlem), Saturday, 8 January 2005 19:46 (twenty years ago)

John (jdahlem), Saturday, 8 January 2005 19:47 (twenty years ago)

All I can think of is Jimmy Carter.

My dad still talks about the "Malaise Index"!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Saturday, 8 January 2005 19:52 (twenty years ago)

Good grief. Hamilton Jordan still defines an era!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 8 January 2005 20:04 (twenty years ago)

and when i told i loved you and you didn't reply...?

That's kind of my "thing", John.

i think this thread warrants more serious answers. this is a topic almost as, nay more important than that of stridex day/night creme. and that thread has already been but slilent to sleep. which begs the question, "seriously what is wrong with you [plural]?"...yes zits are awful things, but there is a simple topical solution available just a few aisles down, there it is, see? the little plastic tube with dual spouts and a plastic covering for each...a dab of one, a dab of the other, turn out the light and sleep it off...in the morning a new face. but there is no such easy answer for malaise, no tube at a general store holding all the answers...i imagine if there was it would look something like cough syrup and presto! - the answer at last. it IS there, in the general store, the gas station, the grocery, and of course the only other businesses around in this town [this is true], the only businesses at all in many towns, the ones who wouldn't survive without it, who wouldn't survive without malaise itself...go ahead and buy some, take it home, a swig of one a slug of the other, turn out the light and sleep it off...repeat, repeat.

John (jdahlem), Saturday, 8 January 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

time

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 8 January 2005 21:06 (twenty years ago)

Roxy, mistress of the hours.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 8 January 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

describing malaise as an illness is just pure racism
