This day marks the anniversary of me posting to ILM! From Green Day: C or D?

Dookie and everything preceding it: classic.
Everything else: shite.
-- roxymuzak (rox...), January 8th, 2004 4:27 PM.

Everybody post here when your anniversary comes around.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 9 January 2005 01:29 (twenty years ago)

Happy one year, Roxy!

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 9 January 2005 01:32 (twenty years ago)

yay Roxy! good thread idea, I'm still a few months away from mine...

xAARONHZx, EXTREME ILXOR LOOK ALL CAPS (AaronHz), Sunday, 9 January 2005 01:36 (twenty years ago)

Ooh, congrats, Roxy! I remember that, when you first posted, I got truly excited because your e-mail address indicated fannish proclivities toward Velvet Goldmine, which is a film I love. :)

My two-year (OMG can you believe that? TWO whole years??) anniversary with the ILX forum system will be coming around in April. Actually, it'll be April 3rd, from the looks of what I've just discovered on a quick search. Which means it'll be a little less than three months from now! This from someone who only planned on sticking with this forum system for a few months! Which goes to show you either (a.) the addictive nature of this forum or (b.) the sad "interweb mentalism" of my own truest character. Or both.

Samantha Baker (Dee the Lurker), Sunday, 9 January 2005 04:52 (twenty years ago)

And I wish to sincerely apologize for the extreme Free Republic nature of my earliest postings. You guys have really helped me moderate my own personal political stances and have given me cause to be more polite and compromise-friendly wrt political discussions. Thanks.

Samantha Baker (Dee the Lurker), Sunday, 9 January 2005 04:54 (twenty years ago)

Why would I want to remember and remind others of the awfulness of my first post(s)?

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Sunday, 9 January 2005 05:07 (twenty years ago)

(Cubs win! thread)

Took it to the wire, didn't they? Considering their probable fate, I just hope the Red Sox finally win instead.
Also, Prior for Cy Young. Back to the pen, Gagne.

-- Gear! (drink_to_remembe...), September 28th, 2003.

Missed my anniversary, it seems.

Riot Gear! (Gear!), Sunday, 9 January 2005 05:08 (twenty years ago)

Roxy and Aaron, I thought of you two when I had a very ill-conceived notion to start a ROOKIES OF THE YEAR thread recently.

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 9 January 2005 05:18 (twenty years ago)

Roxy's ability to score would get her my vote.

Riot Gear! (Gear!), Sunday, 9 January 2005 05:21 (twenty years ago)

Why would I want to remember and remind others of the awfulness of my first post(s)?

Aw, c'mon, it'd be cleansing! *laughs*

Really, I wasn't aware others had a similar sort of experience in terms of "hugely mortifying first postings in the ILX universe"!! That's... odd. And somewhat comforting, really.

Awww, Aaron, you's a youngun toooooo. I kid, really. You're already a veteran as far as I can tell.

Samantha Baker (Dee the Lurker), Sunday, 9 January 2005 05:23 (twenty years ago)

X-post
HAW

xAARONHZx, EXTREME ILXOR LOOK ALL CAPS (AaronHz), Sunday, 9 January 2005 05:24 (twenty years ago)

nothing personal Aaron, you just sometimes stop at third even when the balls are in the gap

Riot Gear! (Gear!), Sunday, 9 January 2005 05:28 (twenty years ago)

ah, balls in the gap.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Sunday, 9 January 2005 05:32 (twenty years ago)

really samantha youre scared to post to an internet message board??? how on earth do you handle like the outside world?? i mean i can't handle the outside world but i can do this

GARGARARARGARAGARGAR IM GONNA EAT YR BABIES

and feel no shame so whats the deal with that???

John (jdahlem), Sunday, 9 January 2005 06:31 (twenty years ago)

[HINT: NONE OF THESE PPL ACTUALLY EXIST]

John (jdahlem), Sunday, 9 January 2005 06:32 (twenty years ago)

Now someone should post a link to that porno where the dude fucks the chick in the ass with his sack.

I just noticed that I chirped Pete with my 5th ILE post, so it's no wonder that few of the UK posters like me (yeah, as if that's all there is to it).

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 January 2005 06:33 (twenty years ago)

"that porno"

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 9 January 2005 06:59 (twenty years ago)

Someone posted a link to it a few months ago. I'll go away now.

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 January 2005 07:06 (twenty years ago)

oh! i quoted because i thought there must surely be many!

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 9 January 2005 07:09 (twenty years ago)

Hm, my date would be in August...when I'll have posted here for five years. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 9 January 2005 07:16 (twenty years ago)

It was the only instance of a solo dp I've ever seen by a single-dicked individual, and so funny that the scene was ruined by the woman's laughing attack. So far beyond anything I can really understand... (x-post)

My 3-year ILE anniversary is at the beginning of September '05 and my 4-year ILM anniversary is close to the end of July '05.

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 January 2005 07:18 (twenty years ago)

My first ILx posting was to ILE (fuck ILM with guns) on September 11. Yes, that Sept. 11. :(

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Sunday, 9 January 2005 09:19 (twenty years ago)

For reference: this is the thread where you link to your first ilx post.

I will hit my four-year anniversary in about six months time.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 9 January 2005 11:43 (twenty years ago)

Hmm, it seems like my two-year anniversary will be within a couple of months, here's my first ILE post, from the "Two Kinds of People Jokes" thread:

People in this world are too kind.

-- Tuomas (tuomas.alh...), March 6th, 2003.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 9 January 2005 14:14 (twenty years ago)

I guess my third anniversary is coming in the next month or so, but I'm damned if I can be bothered digging out my first post to find out.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 9 January 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

I would like to point out that my first pot on this thread *was* actually posted on the 8th (my time) but as it was dictated to my secretary, Kenneth Chu, over the phone, it appears as if on Britto time.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 9 January 2005 16:37 (twenty years ago)

Secretary, pah. He's a mere mailboy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 9 January 2005 16:40 (twenty years ago)

He is on call 24 hours a day.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 9 January 2005 16:41 (twenty years ago)

ALTHOUGH HE DOES SOMETIMES STAY LOGGED IN UNDER YOUR NAME AND POST TO "I LOVE WWE"

The Torture Rack was a really bad move wasn't it? impressive, sure, but pain?? perhaps a larger man would have made it look more painful.
-- roxymuzak (emilysu...)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 9 January 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

You're a wrestling fiend, Ms. Roxy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 9 January 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

In six days it'll be 4 years for me.

My first ILM post:

(to thread) How Did You Discover Freaky Trigger?

I don't know. I'm just here. Hi.
-- Kim (grims....com), January 15th, 2001.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 9 January 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

holy crap.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 9 January 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

It'll be two years next week. I thought it was longer than that.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 10 January 2005 02:11 (twenty years ago)

Round here, Vermont, that is, you hear "Motherfucker". We're a small, close-knit, family-oriented, society.
Of the two options given at top, however, I feel comfortable with either and find myself using (in thought, mostly} "Fucker".
But bad drivers = "Fuckheads" and I ain't ashamed to let em know it.

Such words of wisdom: January 26, 2004

jim wentworth (wench), Monday, 10 January 2005 02:27 (twenty years ago)

What are the most anticipated forthcoming albums for the year 2000?

Oh God. Five years in August.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 January 2005 04:07 (twenty years ago)

I wanna dip my balls in it.

xAARONHZx, EXTREME ILXOR LOOK ALL CAPS (AaronHz), Monday, 10 January 2005 04:11 (twenty years ago)

Oh God. Five years in August.

Yay! I'm not alone!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 January 2005 04:14 (twenty years ago)

and countless others that didn't even make it onto the CDNow listing. :)

RIP Music Boulevard as well.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Monday, 10 January 2005 04:20 (twenty years ago)

Jim! I thought you'd been around in ILXville for much longer than that! Dude. I guess this is one of those examples of reality != perception. Or sumsink.

(My first post to ILE was the following, about "women's problems", from April 8, 2003:

What kinds of menstruation/PMS problems are you having? There are different diagnoses that can be had depending on the symptoms you may be experiencing at this time.

I had severe menstrual/PMS problems for about three years before I got some help, and ever since then they've died down significantly. On occasion I will experience what I experienced before, but that's only very occasionally and is too rare for me to complain about.

Erm, in other words -- see a gynecologist or two or twenty before you self-treat. If your gynecologist won't or can't help, then see an endocrinologist -- believe it or not, the two specialities have more in common than you may think. If you still think they're talking bollocks, then self-treat.

Good luck!!

My first post to ILM, about Joan Jett vs. Pat Benatar and Samantha Fox vs. Lita Ford, dated April 3, 2003:

Joan Jett vs Pat Benatar -- Joan Jett.
"Cherry Bomb" (the JJ & the Blackhearts version) alone pushes Joan Jett over the edge.

Samantha Fox vs Lita Ford -- Lita Ford.
How can you compare Lita to a Page Three Girl? (Also, how weird was it that Fox co-hosted a Brits with MICK FLEETWOOD, of all people?)

Oh dear Lord why did I just do that? Oh well. Best click "Submit" anyway and not have this be a waste of time....)

Samantha Baker (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 10 January 2005 05:09 (twenty years ago)

April 19th 2002 was my first on ILM:
this is Totally unexpected...i'd like to thank...

July 27th 2002 was my first on ILE:
i am in lurve

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 10 January 2005 05:10 (twenty years ago)

And from there, little did you know what would happen...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 January 2005 05:11 (twenty years ago)

Well considering I hijacked the entire forum a mere couple of months later, that's pretty impressive yes.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 10 January 2005 05:12 (twenty years ago)

My one year anniversary is in a few days ... Jan 14 ... if I'd posted an hour later, Kim and I would share an anniversary ... I posted the "Rough Guide to Ambient" on ILM.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 10 January 2005 05:17 (twenty years ago)

See, previously I would worry that a thread like this would just massacre the server, what with the explosion of searches that would occur any time it's on the New Answers page. Not so any longer!

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 10 January 2005 05:59 (twenty years ago)

you guys should really stick to actually posting your first post ON your anniversary.... it'd make it more special.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 January 2005 10:49 (twenty years ago)

it's like saying happy birthday to someone whose birthday is 6 months away (this has happened on ilx already)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 January 2005 10:56 (twenty years ago)

Yeashhh, but that would take effort.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 03:46 (twenty years ago)

Andrew: rockin! Good to see the database has been optimised if it's holding up to this :)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 05:07 (twenty years ago)

So, it's been one year.

Requestotronic sez: "Rough Guide to Leslie Kong, please."

I Am Curious (George) (Rock Hardy), Friday, 14 January 2005 17:18 (twenty years ago)

Happy Anniversary :)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 14 January 2005 17:20 (twenty years ago)

Wow, the Rough Guide thread was a whole year ago?

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 14 January 2005 17:23 (twenty years ago)

A year and a day. I wonder how many ILXors it midwifed?

I Am Curious (George) (Rock Hardy), Friday, 14 January 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

D-ditto!

Captain GRRRios' Giggletits (Barima), Friday, 14 January 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

A year and a day. I wonder how many ILXors it midwifed?

At least two.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 14 January 2005 18:18 (twenty years ago)

seven months pass...
So if I read this correctly, ILM is going to be five years old in ten days, right?

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 00:10 (twenty years ago)

who's gonna teach it to read?

s/c (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 00:14 (twenty years ago)

I think we are a couple months past my fourth anniversary. I may or may not spend the fifth curled up on the floor crying over all the lost time.

nabiscothingy, Wednesday, 17 August 2005 00:16 (twenty years ago)

i think this is my first post:

grey hair is great. ive had it for 3 years and im only 20! my mum went pretty much total grey at 23 so that bodes....something. i dont have a problem with it. cant think why you do. yeah. youve got to have it short tho. look at it this way. its way better than going bald. i think
-- ambrose (ambrosewhit...) (webmail), September 25th, 2000 1:00 AM. (link)

so ive only got a month to go or so, according to that. although it seems a little weird that my first post would be about grey hair. i thought it would be on ILM for a start. In fact i thought that was before ILE existed.
anyway, hello 20 yr old you.
