northern marianas

the american apparel thread got me thinking about those made in usa clothes, that are actually made in the colonies (i did think there was a thread about this but i couldnt find it), anyway, it got me thinking about the northern marianas, and i was sure there was someone here who has been a number of times...

anyway, has anyone been? anyone know anything about it? is it fascinating and horrible?

i know the mariana trench, which is near the marianas, is the deepest EVAH.

its famous for the "mariana turkey shoot" in world war II. the us shot down something like 400 japanese aircraft. lots of us-led amphibious assaults. like to saipan and guam.

theres probably lots of malaria.
