ppp, Monday, 10 January 2005 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

weekdays: a bowl of muesli and two slices of toast. Weekends: croissants or danishes, often from the Bretzel Bakery.

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 10 January 2005 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

a slice or two of Waitrose Black forst bread (yum) a glass of tropicana, and a cup of strong PG tips.

lukey (Lukey G), Monday, 10 January 2005 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

normally nothing for breakfast before work. unless i feel particularly peckish and am in time to get a mcdonald's double sausage and egg muffin meal.

on weekends breakfast happens around midday. in which case either full english breakfast or ramen noodles with sausage and egg.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 January 2005 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Great big cup of nice hot strong PG Tips tea, and a thick slice of lightly-buttered wholemeal/multigrain toast, sometimes with a slathering of Marmite.

C J (C J), Monday, 10 January 2005 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

A fruit-yoghurt with muesli. Maybe some Actimel (a "probiotic yogurt drink") and some orange juice as well. This morning just a prune (?) bar.

stevie nixed (stevie nixed), Monday, 10 January 2005 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

At the moment on workdays, a cup of tea. At weekends, normally something cooked like a sausage sandwich or scrambled eggs on toast. There is generally fruit juice involved.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 10 January 2005 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Muselix, extra nuts, and a banana, with milk and two cups of coffee.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Monday, 10 January 2005 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

plain yogurt and granola

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

How can you possibly say bagels with cream cheese is gross?

Nellie (nellskies), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

and why is muesli in america called granola?

Nellie (nellskies), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Frosted Mini-Wheats, Strawberry-Banana yogurt, Strawberry cereal bar, but a lot of days I skip it.

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I had two croissants with strawberry jam this morning. Usually I have three or four Weetbix with sugar and soy milk.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't have anything but I'm gonna start on that Actimel myself. My mum was taking it for a few weeks and she said it began to run the guts off her. Stevie, with your morning diet I'd be surprised that you can leave the toilet.

Rumpington Lane, Monday, 10 January 2005 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Actimel is "buy one, get one free" for packs of six in Tesco's this week!

C J (C J), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

which would be great, except that as a result there's been a run and now they're all sold out at my branch.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost i think muesli here is something different, actually. i'm not sure.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Life cereal w/milk or soy milk. 2 cups black coffee.

daria g (daria g), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

T/S: Actimel vs Yakult????

Rumpington Lane, Monday, 10 January 2005 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

yakult please

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i think muesli is different, too.. granola is crunchy chunks of oats, whereas muesli is loose.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

nothing at all, ever, maybe water, sometimes. Really I don't know how I'm still alive.

Ste (Fuzzy), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

do you have lunches and dinners?

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 January 2005 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

2 Weetabix with semiskimmed milk, a chopped banana and a handful of pumpkin seeds followed by an orange.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Monday, 10 January 2005 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

A pot of coffee. Sometimes a couple of Pop Tarts, sometimes some toast with peach butter, sometimes just the coffee.

I Am Curious (George) (Rock Hardy), Monday, 10 January 2005 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

ken, yeah. I'll shut up now.

Ste (Fuzzy), Monday, 10 January 2005 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Usually a bowl of cereal. THis morning it's Special K. THen later on, a latte.

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Monday, 10 January 2005 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Cornflakes with grape-nuts and raisins (and semi-skimmed milk). Coffee when I get to work.

beanz (beanz), Monday, 10 January 2005 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Weekday: Usually toast with margarine and coffee. Today I stopped by Einstein's and got a turkey sausage and egg bagel sandwich.

Weekend: omelet, toast, pepper-encrusted bacon, or sour cream pancakes + bacon.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 10 January 2005 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

aw don't shut up ste :(

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 January 2005 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Stevie, with your morning diet I'd be surprised that you can leave the toilet.

I need to *kickstart* my bowelmovement in the morning. If I wouldn't eat Actimel et al I would have no movement at all.

Yep, I know, TMI. :-)

stevie nixed (stevie nixed), Monday, 10 January 2005 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I empathise. I really do.

Rumpington Lane, Monday, 10 January 2005 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Most mornings: multi-vitamin, coffee, and usually an orange or SIX.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 10 January 2005 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Usually a cup of tea and a glass of fruit juice, but sometimes at weekends I venture into fried egg and bacon sandwich territory.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 10 January 2005 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

On the weekends I usually cut loose with breakfasting. I made biscuits and sausage gravy this weekend.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 10 January 2005 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

two years pass...
I had Hot Cross Buns for breakfast.

jel --, Sunday, 25 March 2007 09:58 (eighteen years ago)

i have been eating this lately, because i am ELDERLY.

http://www.eintown.com/images/kashi_goodfriends.jpg

get bent, Sunday, 25 March 2007 13:09 (eighteen years ago)

Oatmeal with lots of fruit—berries, ripe nectarine if we can find 'em, kiwi, banana. Glop of plain yogurt in it. Yum. Every day. Because of intractable UTI I've been laying off my usual bucket of cappuccino, but I carry the memory in my heart and yearn for the day when we are reunited.

Beth Parker, Sunday, 25 March 2007 13:23 (eighteen years ago)

omg bucket of cappuccino

want

get bent, Sunday, 25 March 2007 13:28 (eighteen years ago)

Boiled egg, two slices of toast, double latte.

Or

raspberries and blackberries with Quaker oat hoops and a glop of plain yoghurt (don't really like fruit flavored yoghurts much), maybe a spoon of maple syrup if the raspberries are extra tart. Double latte.

accentmonkey, Sunday, 25 March 2007 13:52 (eighteen years ago)

My wife just cooked a spinach souffle. Delicious.

M.V., Sunday, 25 March 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)

http://www.kelloggs.be/img/packs/SKC.jpg

(Special K with bitter Belgian chocolate)

StanM, Sunday, 25 March 2007 14:48 (eighteen years ago)

Some cinnamon Teddy Grahams and a papaya yogurt.

Stevie D, Sunday, 25 March 2007 14:50 (eighteen years ago)

haha cereal with chocolate in it
(not saying this isn't awesome but it's pretty funny. also: i wld get so fat. am actually just jealous of people who eat this every morning and maintain fit form. ohwell. i like my yogurt and non-chocolate breakfast stuff anyway.)

rrrobyn, Sunday, 25 March 2007 14:52 (eighteen years ago)

i know it's wrong but i think i could subsist on 2 cups of strong coffee from waking until early afternoon
(and i was off coffee for years there. the addiction comes back so fast, so strong. i don't even want to shake it now.)

rrrobyn, Sunday, 25 March 2007 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

people who eat this every morning and maintain fit form

I didn't say I maintained any kind of form! :-)

StanM, Sunday, 25 March 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

hehe
p.s. don't get diabetes stanm!

rrrobyn, Sunday, 25 March 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

I wish I had cream cheese. I have great bagels but no cream cheese, and I don't want to go outside, so I guess I'll settle for butter.

Jordan, Sunday, 25 March 2007 15:01 (eighteen years ago)

hot X buns = 2.7 grams of fibre per bun = health food!

jel --, Sunday, 25 March 2007 15:18 (eighteen years ago)

1 slice whole wheat toast w/natural peanut butter, 1 banana, 1 cappuccino

Hurting 2, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)

Made some quick biscuits this morning, had them with strawberry jam and lots of butter, an espresso au lait, and some bacon on the side. Breakfast of Brooklyn, anyway.

Laurel, Sunday, 25 March 2007 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

Is "espresso au lait" just a shot of espresso with some milk poured into it?

Hurting 2, Sunday, 25 March 2007 22:23 (eighteen years ago)

i usually feel like breakfast is the fresh meal, you know, fruit, OJ, yogurt... and then like a little piece of chocolate and some coffee/tea.

but every once in a while i have to go for the eggs and fixins breakfast. i just love eggs.

Surmounter, Monday, 26 March 2007 01:37 (eighteen years ago)

Something LOW CAL! LOW G.I.! GOD I FEEL GOOD!

Drooone, Monday, 26 March 2007 01:40 (eighteen years ago)

Cereal. I can't do fruit in the morning for some reason.

Curt1s Stephens, Monday, 26 March 2007 01:41 (eighteen years ago)

too much stimulation for you? cereal is kindof the breakfast comfort food, i feel. i can't do cereal in the morning, for some reason - i usually do it later.

Surmounter, Monday, 26 March 2007 01:49 (eighteen years ago)

Cereal is def. a comfort food for me. After surgery I could eat nothing but Rice Krispies for several weeks.

Curt1s Stephens, Monday, 26 March 2007 01:52 (eighteen years ago)

mmm rice krispies... good with strawberries maybe. ha, but that wouldn't work for you ; )

Surmounter, Monday, 26 March 2007 01:53 (eighteen years ago)

Drooone, Monday, 26 March 2007 01:54 (eighteen years ago)

oops...

Drooone, Monday, 26 March 2007 01:54 (eighteen years ago)

I eat cereal for breakfast 99% of the time. 2 bowls. No toast or anything else. Sometimes I'll have some water to drink later on.

Lingbert, Monday, 26 March 2007 03:33 (eighteen years ago)

i LOVE toast. toast is like one of my favorite foods.

Surmounter, Monday, 26 March 2007 03:34 (eighteen years ago)

I've developed a taste for weird breakfasts, like ramen noodles with a sliced boiled egg, some broccoli and some garlic. Or a miso soup. But usually I just have toast or eggs or coffee and nothing else. I cant really stomach cereal, milk makes me all barfy.

Trayce, Monday, 26 March 2007 03:43 (eighteen years ago)

Couple of cups of tea (Yorkshire, for preference). Bowl of blueberries and raspberries w/ greek yoghurt. Toast and marmite as well if I'm going to struggle to make lunch (i've developed an enormous fondness for the M&S multigrain).

If it's one of those rare days that Mrs Coastaltown and I have off together then I tend to whack up a cooked breakfast. Sausages, beans, toms, eggs (poached for her, scrambled for me), mush for me n'all.

Matt, Monday, 26 March 2007 11:59 (eighteen years ago)

Fruit (usually frozen berries defrosted overnight or whatever's in season), yoghurt, pint of water with lime juice, cup of tea.

Anna, Monday, 26 March 2007 12:17 (eighteen years ago)

I had some organic muesli this morning, which I was given for free at the Country Living Sprynge Fayre. Usually, though, it's fruit and a dollop of yoghurt. Always tea and orange juice.

Madchen, Monday, 26 March 2007 13:13 (eighteen years ago)

Sprynge? Wow.

Matt, Monday, 26 March 2007 13:28 (eighteen years ago)

two slices of whole wheat toast with real butter, glass of milk. almost everyday.

I had a coupon for organic wheatabix this weekend though and was looking forward to it. but I couldn't find it in the store. :(

Ms Misery, Monday, 26 March 2007 13:31 (eighteen years ago)

Is "espresso au lait" just a shot of espresso with some milk poured into it?

Yes, what should I call it? I can't steam the milk, I just heat it and mix.

Laurel, Monday, 26 March 2007 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

I have had the Food Doctor's "perfect start" Museli Mix - this is a result of sheer laziness (the shop opposite my work = a Planet Organic so everything is all rabbit foody) and the fact that it comes in a smashing tub which I think will be "useful" to keep things in. So far less useful than thought - not big enough for my whole bag of fusili, too big for rice... could branch out into non-food item storage but what...

This site has it in a box though which aint right

Sarah, Monday, 26 March 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

Now it depends on what Ophelia has. This morning raisin bread and strawberry milk (Fristi).

nathalie, Monday, 26 March 2007 14:11 (eighteen years ago)

1.5 bowls Product 19

Jordan, Monday, 26 March 2007 14:13 (eighteen years ago)

Oh man, I love Product 19. Maybe that can be the methadone that gets me off of poptarts.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 26 March 2007 14:16 (eighteen years ago)

I recommend for folks to try cutting out the cereal. I used to eat 2 or 3 bowls and still not really feel like I ate. Now a single piece of toast with peanut butter does the trick. I think it even helped me lose weight (partly because I'd wind up eating cereal for a snack too)

Hurting 2, Monday, 26 March 2007 14:17 (eighteen years ago)

one month passes...
I had creamed corn on toast for breakfast the other day, I was telling my friends about how awesome it was and they all thought i was a total sicko. ):

Drooone, Friday, 4 May 2007 02:37 (eighteen years ago)

In the summers when I was young, when the gardens were coming in heavy, we would have fresh creamed corn on our biscuits more often than gravy. SO GOOD.

Also, this is when I learned to love tomatoes.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 4 May 2007 02:58 (eighteen years ago)

Creamed corn reminded me of childhood, too.

Drooone, Friday, 4 May 2007 03:14 (eighteen years ago)

Muesli, as I've done for the last fifteen years. But I live in the states and I can't get very good Muesli, so I have to add stuff to it. Oh, and I put hot water in it --not milk. Though I add a couple spoonfuls of plain yogurt.

Rich Smörgasbord, Friday, 4 May 2007 09:15 (eighteen years ago)

Muselix, extra nuts, and a banana, with milk and two cups of coffee.

God, I am SO DULL, my breakfast has not changed in 2 years! OK, I have tea instead of coffee these days. And cranberries.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 4 May 2007 09:17 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, I never said why I wondered about the espresso au lait - I was just wondering if you meant what I know as a cortado (although I only ever have these in Spain, I don't think I've ever actually seen one on a coffee list in the UK - not sure if anyone actually drinks them much in Spain apart from me and my dad for that matter - they are one of the only things which isn't ultra concentrated coffee DEATH round where my parents are).

Sarah, Friday, 4 May 2007 09:23 (eighteen years ago)

Oh and I have M&S unsweetened museli right now, which I am storing in the USEFUL Food Doctor "perfect start" museli mix tub! It's alright though it has some orange bits in it which I don't like as much. It could do with some pumpkin seeds I think, I have grown accustomed to the taste of them. And a cup of tea. I'm going to fill up my litre bottle of water right about NOW! (breakfast is had at my desk at work).

Sarah, Friday, 4 May 2007 09:25 (eighteen years ago)

I had grilled bacon (all nice and crispy, I hate flabby bacon) and some scrambled eggs this morning. It was lovely.

C J, Friday, 4 May 2007 09:31 (eighteen years ago)

This mornin: 2 toast, 2 poached eggs, baked beans, coffee. Lovely.

braveclub, Friday, 4 May 2007 09:32 (eighteen years ago)

Has anyone ever had a bacon and HALLOUMI sandwich? I found out about this concept the other day and it sounds so brilliant that I need and MUST have it!

Sarah, Friday, 4 May 2007 09:36 (eighteen years ago)

today i'm having a piece of trader joe's ridiculously good carrot-zucchini bread, and some mango pieces.

get bent, Friday, 4 May 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

Fancy muesli from Devon or Dorset or somesuch. Purple box, very yummy.

Zora, Friday, 4 May 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

get bent, have you tried TJ's carrot muffins? Also v. good and yummy with a bit of cream cheese.

Mr. Jaq makes breakfast during the week when he is not slated for temp work somewhere. It's generally some combination of sausage, side pork, pork chop, egg, oatmeal, or Malt-o-meal and big cups of assam tea. Today we had strawberries with heavy cream for breakfast dessert. On weekends, I try to cook and will do biscuits, waffles, coffee cake, or cornbread and make a couple big ramekins of not-too-sweet custard for eating through the next week.

Jaq, Friday, 4 May 2007 15:44 (eighteen years ago)

pieces of shit like you

river wolf, Friday, 4 May 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)

LOL

rrrobyn, Friday, 4 May 2007 15:47 (eighteen years ago)

first breakfast: 2 c coffee and some sort of cookie, usually trader joes triple ginger snaps or these voortman flax seed/oatmeal cookies

second breakfast: cottage cheese and pineapple OR honey and wheat germ on plain yogurt

third breakfast: cheerios and milk, maybe some fruit.

teeny, Friday, 4 May 2007 17:40 (eighteen years ago)

oh in case it is not clear those are not options one two and three, those are the three breakfasts that I eat. occasionally I only eat two breakfasts but if so I eat two lunches. usually only one dinner.

teeny, Friday, 4 May 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

sometimes cereal with soymilk at my desk at the office, sometimes just coffee

today: sudafed, banana, green tea

Dimension 5ive, Friday, 4 May 2007 17:48 (eighteen years ago)

teeny, are you a hobbit?

Ms Misery, Friday, 4 May 2007 17:49 (eighteen years ago)

Muesli or granola and yogurt, a banana, and a small piece of whatever random baked good a coworker has brought (usually pumpkin bread or muffins a couple times a week).

patita, Friday, 4 May 2007 21:42 (eighteen years ago)

cereal like special k or raisin bran. sometimes a grapefruit too. glass of OJ. Handful of supplements.

admrl, Friday, 4 May 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

On Sundays I make scrambled eggs and watch the football.

admrl, Friday, 4 May 2007 21:44 (eighteen years ago)

this morning chocolate waffle and then yoghurt with maple syrup.

nathalie, Saturday, 5 May 2007 09:29 (eighteen years ago)

1 x Weetabix & 2 x slices of toast, one with honey, and a cup of instant coffee.

Usually it's muesli or nothing at all. Dr Kawashima told me breakfast was very important in getting my BRANE age down so I'm going to make more of an effort.

onimo, Saturday, 5 May 2007 09:32 (eighteen years ago)

i'm really not a breakfast person. if it were up to me, i'd have nothing at all.

nathalie, Saturday, 5 May 2007 10:18 (eighteen years ago)

Poached eggs from my friend's mom's farm in Napa, served on sourdough toast with guacamole and bacon.
