right now i'm just feeling mellow as a cats tail folks.

i dont drink it cuz i dont drink cuz thats wrong but if i did im sure id like it. one thing i have heard is that some kinds are good and some are bad. and that it is only good when v cold. of course its 65 d here and it would still have been good if i'd drank some but i didn't. so what are the good kinds and what are the bad. what are you favorites. what are you least favorites.

smirnof is russian, but there were two brothers, i think one of em split off and eventually ended up as the Diageo-or-who-the-fuck-owns-Smirnoff brand, but you can still buy what is i think prob. more "real" Smirnoff vodka in russia, i recently cracked open my bottle i bought back 3 yrs ago, it tasted pretty damn good.

i feel seriously fucked up today/yesterday and itain't just caffeine. because thtat was like 12-14 hours ago. i just drank 1/4 stolen jim bean (polished off) plus a few swigs of GOOD vodka (aftger drinking an iced glass of shit vodka). and well yeah i'm feeling a slight buzz i guess but basically giong out of my mind otherwise.

hmm. it's like...vodka and red bull type shit. cept i ain't had no red bull. i was giong haywire earlier...pacing all around the house upstaris downstairs computer book can't comprehend much repeat. only 10 pages of gravity's rainbow read today. but that's all i remember doing besides posting on here, reading gravity's rainbow. and i had experienced a similar ("manic"?) episode about 1-2 weeks earlier, lasting for about a week, then it stopped. but it didn't end with MASSIVE DEPRESSION (like it's supposed to right?) but rather...mellowness type stuff. so it can't be bipolar disorder right?

I drank too much of that Vladimir stuff one night, cos that was like all they had at this house party, which I refer to as the worst house party I ever attended, I don't think I've ever been at a party thrown by a more anal rententive, high maintenance person in my entire life, she spent more time screaming at her guests for various "infractions" (ie from what I can tell pretty tame and regular party behavior, like sitting outside smoking and playing cards for example). I am pretty partial to Stoli but we did get Grey Goose for only $18 for a large bottle in Arizona so I switched to that, for a week.

When I had to go to substance abuse meetings, all of the alcoholics said that vodka was the substance of choice, because it doesn't taste nasty when you're vomiting it back up the next morning. I always wondered about that, because I binged on Jack and now I never want to drink it again. Why am I not surprised that jd is the one who started this thread. i haven't seen any ads for it in britain, i just tried it one night in a bar. i like "smooth" vodkas, ones that don't particularly taste of anything but have a decent kick anyway. (i thought that was the idea of vodka?) so i'm not a fan of stolichnaya, lol.

Post my trip to Poland in November, I've been intrigued by vodka. Recently checked out a Latvian vodka called Danoff which beats even the Polish premium vodkas hands down. Would def like to learn more. Any recommendations, or tricks?

Chopin is the best one I've tried, but it's usually more expensive than I like for a vodka. On the lower priced front, Blue Ice is decent and frequently under $15/750ml.

Grey Goose gets a bad rep but it's preferable to Ciroc. I've always been broadly supportive of the move to regulate vodka as grain or potato-derived.

Belvedere and Chopin are superb and well worth the extra money, if you intend to drink them neat and straight from the freezer. I just use Finlandia, Absolut or Hortitsya for mixed drinks. Anything better's a waste of money.

I've always found that boiled potatoes with a little butter and dill work well in cleansing the palate when tasting vodkas. They're also good for stopping you getting too drunk too quickly.

I've been rotating b/t Ketel, Belvedere, and Chopin, depending on which is on sale at the store. I think I like Belvy the best, followed closely by Chopin, and just as closely by Ketel.

I'm thinking martini tonight. My own bastardization of the Vesper - 2 parts Sapphire, 2 parts whatever premium vodka I have around, and a half part Lilet. With a twist. Superb.
