I've just set up a Direct Connect Hub so that we may share files with one another. For those of you that are unfamiliar with this technology, direct connect is a system similar to Soulseek, except more specialised. Here's how it works:
* You download a generic Direct Connect client, like DC++ (for Windows users) or NeoModus (for OS X or Windows users).* You up that client to share your files. (should be fairly self-explanatory) You need to share at least 500mb of stuff to connect to this Hub.* You connect to the Direct Connect Hub located at 'ilx.p3r.net:6000' (that is, hostname 'ilx.p3r.net' on port 6000).* You can search or browse through other user's shares, and download their stuff.
Yay.

No problem by me.
Is it just my wonky connection or is everything hella laggy?
It shouldn't be. What exactly is it that you're finding laggy? The connection process? Chat? File transfers?
― Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 05:14 (twenty years ago)
If you are running the OS X firewall thingee, make it allow ports 56067 and 56130; it can be found under Preferences, Sharing, Firewall.
