What does your bedroom look like?

I recently reorganised my room, and since it's now looking neater than it ever has in the history of my life, I figured it's a good time to show it to the world. Some people say that you can tell a lot from the spaces they inhabit. Feel free to use this thread as an opportunity to post pictures of your own bedrooms, or to wittily infer aspects of my personality based on mine.

"where the magic happens"

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:19 (twenty years ago)

Magic? Nay! Merely the pleasure of self-stimulation!

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:20 (twenty years ago)

I love that tub chair in the first photo!

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:21 (twenty years ago)

Ahahaha, Kournikova. So you don't leave that room a whole lot then.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:21 (twenty years ago)

i love your bookshelves

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:22 (twenty years ago)

I love that tub chair in the first photo!

Me too! It magically appeared in there one day when my family decided that it didn't fit with the other furniture in the living room.

i love your bookshelves

I only recently stocked them properly (categorised, etc), and after the xmas book gift influx I'm already out of space!

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:23 (twenty years ago)

This thread has inspired me to clean up my room. I'll post pics in a couple of months when i'm done :P

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:25 (twenty years ago)

Haha and I'll post pics in a couple of weeks when my room is overrun by ferrets and woodland creatures.

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:25 (twenty years ago)

I only recently stocked them properly (categorised, etc),

i've categorised my cds but not my books, i just think that would be incredibly difficult so i keep putting it off. makes it bloody hard to find things though. did you go for alpha or genre?

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:28 (twenty years ago)

andrew, tmi.

i recently cleaned my room too.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:30 (twenty years ago)

Not taking photos of my room. Just imagine six million piles of paper, 12 million piles of CDs and 114 Doctor Who novels.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:33 (twenty years ago)

haha my bedroom is dead boring, i wouldn't bother taking a photo. a bed, a bedside light and a little pile of books and magazines, that's it. all the crap is in other rooms.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:35 (twenty years ago)

did you go for alpha or genre?

A weird mixture. Along the second-from-top shelf is scifi, by book height (ie standard or tall), by author, and then random. All the other shelves are merely sorted by author and book height. The top-middle shelf is reference books (and LOTR).

I don't have enough CDs to really need to sort them, such have mp3s taken over my life. The LPs are sorted as 'new stuff i just got', classical-alphabetical, other-alphabetical. My meagre selection of DVDs (bottom-leftish) doesn't require sorting either.

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:36 (twenty years ago)

Even if you think your room is boring or ridiculously messy I implore you to take photos and post them here. I'm always curious about this stuff.

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:36 (twenty years ago)

No way am I taking photos of a messy room. It's messy because this apartment is so tiny there's literally nowhere to put anything.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:38 (twenty years ago)

i would take photos of mine but i don't have a camera :( one day when i have one i'll revive the thread

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:40 (twenty years ago)

Where do you live? I have a camera.

(Well, it seemed to work for Tuomas)

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:41 (twenty years ago)

haha i live in perth, better start saving for your airfare

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:44 (twenty years ago)

Hahahahaha I'll be coming to Perth in Nov/Dec so get ready...

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:45 (twenty years ago)

hehe i'll be sure to have a tidy up later in the year then

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 05:45 (twenty years ago)

This is about a quarter of the beyond-sweet room I shame with my occasionally annoying but mostly lovely roomate.

http://users.ox.ac.uk/~wadh1786/picture109.jpg

Here's another, less interesting quarter (door is his):

http://users.ox.ac.uk/~wadh1786/picture108.jpg

On the downside, here's the room I actually sleep in:

http://users.ox.ac.uk/~wadh1786/picture107.jpg

And the obligatory bookcase shot:

(I have to move everything out every term, so I only lug up stuff I think I'm pretty certain to read/listen to/play etc)

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 06:07 (twenty years ago)

It's like looking at the bedroom of someone from atlantis, since submerged below the waves.

which i guess is why it constantly gets more over-the-top.

maybe ilxors could combine their undies snaps with their bedroom snaps. multitasking-loike.

I love your bedroom Lolita. It's trés something.

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 07:23 (twenty years ago)

If you look closely you'll see it has 7 strings. :)

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 07:26 (twenty years ago)

This was my bedroom when the pic was taken, it has now been turned into the study as it is so damn huge, we use the smaller bedroom for sleeping. Its a mess in thar. I love my doona cover tho.

Nice record storage. How many you got?

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 08:24 (twenty years ago)

gosh, I'm not even sure at this point Andrew! It's definitely in the 1000s, but i've honestly never tried to do a real accounting... i probably should for insurance purposes if nothing else...

yeah, that Paris, Texas soundtrack is great! So beautiful. Ry Cooder is a real hero..

Stormy Davis (diamond), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 08:32 (twenty years ago)

Amazing record wall wow!

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 09:02 (twenty years ago)

i catalogue mine on that recordnerd site for insurance, i'm terrified they'll get stolen. and i don't have anywhere near 1000s.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 09:04 (twenty years ago)

I like your bed, Stormy!

Greg, we have those exact same brown chairs in my OFFICE.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 10:11 (twenty years ago)

my dream home will have its own record room. as of now i've just got some of the LPs in a bookcase and the other half in a big box.

i'll take a pic of my room once i clean it up a bit. it's become a disaster area over the past few weeks.

Nimrod Kovacs (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

'chel, your office must be COMFY! Does it smell of red wine?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

Don't have a camera, I'm afraid, but it's just a bedroom - no books except the one I'm reading, at night. Double bed, two bedside tables, wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table (all in walnut, a nice set of matching old things) and that's about it.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 19:40 (twenty years ago)

i want a brick wall like the one in stormy's bedroom.

Nimrod Kovacs (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 1 February 2005 19:43 (twenty years ago)

Our bedroom isn't that big, and I've realised from the photos that it looks a bit like a hotel bedroom! Maybe because it's so tidy but there's so little space the littlest clutter makes it unbearable, for me at least.

Greg, when I saw your photos, I knew that room had to be someone here.
My room is a bit empty because I'm only here for 8 months, and my record collection is all in a folder for easy access when I'm djing or mostly at my parents' house.

http://www.imomus.com/woodbedroom.jpg

You can't see the room very well in this picture, but it's hard to photograph because it's so small. It's entirely made of wood and glass, and has a wooden ladder going up into a loft. There are blankets stuffed into the window to keep out the cold. The bed is just a mattress on the floor. There's a two bar heater which is on all the time. There's a TV and wifi signal for my laptop. I'm here until the end of February, while I work on a sound project at the Future University, Hadodate, Hokkaido. It's the most Spartan bedroom I've slept in... well, ever, I think. Barely habitable. But, you know, I usually have a bronchial cough, but sleeping in this cold room seems to have cured it. So perhaps a lot of the modern amenities I'm used to--like heating--are actually very bad for me.

Hey Glad Girls / Kate (papa november), Saturday, 7 May 2005 03:16 (twenty years ago)

yrs is pretty Kate.

one of the problems in living in a large house is that the bedroom becomes so utiltarian. There's nothing in ours but clothes and a bed.

The best way I can describe it is silver. Silver dressers/nightstands, a large silver flat screen tv and my silver-framed 1956 Life magazine Giant ad. oh, and the fat white cat lounging on the bed.

Revive with new decorating ideas . . .

Virginia Plain, Thursday, 20 September 2007 03:31 (seventeen years ago)

Currently mine looks like what you get when you combine a green carpet, one brick red wall, an art studio, and a 30 kiloton clutter bomb. It's kind of a disaster but short of complicating the room with lots of furniture and ceasing all non-sleeping activities in it, my options are pretty limited. And no, you don't get to see it.
