Me and Sara have to do a 20 minute group (=4 people, one deserted, one hasn't been seen for weeks) presentation next Wednesday on something vaguely related to our course (=Media => anything), and this is my best (and only) idea so far. We spend a couple of minutes on each of the finest moments in the history of entertainment. Here's my shortlist:

Back to the Future Part III
Flight Of The Navigator
Explorers
Batteries Not Incuded
Explorers
Home Alone
Short Curcuit 2
The Goonies
Honey I Shrunk The Kids
Smokey And The Bandits II
Weekend At Bernie's
Taking Care of Business

So, other movies in the same genre (basically silly 80s family/kids sci-fi/adventure films featuring mediocre comedy actors and an annoying kids)? And failing that, what ILE thread could we read out verbatim instead?

The Princess Bride isn't in that genre but it counts as a family/kids/adventure movie. And no annoying kids, except for the main female lead. But it's a great movie, so put it on there! But Flight of the Navigator is terrible.

Mac and Me! SpaceCamp! Fatal Attraction! (Well, Michael Douglas has done some mediocre comedies and there was a kid and all...).

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 29 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Adventures in Babysitting.

Kim, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Kim, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

coo, my boyfriend is an expert at this. THe Explorers, Angus... i would probably also add the Neverending Story and Big and LABYRINTH!

katie, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Weird Science, Big, Labyrinth = Perfect, thank you.

Maria, Flight Of The Naivgator is now rapidly heading for the number one spot.

Graham, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Last Starfighter, Three Men & A Little Lady, Vice Versa, Karate Kid (parts I-III)

Nick, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

freaky friday -- was that probably late 70s? What was that disturbing one where the father dies and his spirit comes back inside a robot made of a vacuum cleaner.

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Wargames" while i'm on the subject, which I AM (also features Michael Madsen, which is a bonus!)

The last starfighter has been getting heavy rotation on sky movies lately. It's even moved from moviemax to premier. Not a bad film either.

Weekend at Bernie's II is better than the original in terms of a goofy comedy. Vice Versa as opposed to Big due to the presence of Judge Reinhold.

Jonnie, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Planes, Trains and Automobiles, except John Candy and Steve Martin are not lame in it, in fact any John Candy (esp. Uncle Buck, Cool Runnings). John Candy is God. It helps in this respect that he is dead. Um.

Bill, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

HOWARD THEDUCK

Graham, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

D.A.R.Y.L
Hawk the Slayer
18 Again (another age role reversal movie - with George Burns)
Masters of the Universe
Starcrash (one of the many straight to video Star Wars rip-offs that flooded the market in the early 80s. This starred David Hasslehoff)
Curly Sue
Bigfoot and the Hendersons.

so many, so much crap...

The Lost Boys Scuba School Ski School Summer Vacation Licence To Drive The Never Ending Corey LA Corey Hardcorey Low Down Dirty Haim

Al, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hah! What about Zapped? In case you've forgotten, it's the one where Scott Baio makes the chicks' clothes fly off simply by using *the power of his mind* or there was some weird lab accident or something, whatever, the plot wasn't the point was it?

Kim, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And how could I have forgotten Revenge of the Nerds?
