What do you name your peepz in RPGs?

my usual names are "Beavis", or "Sir Beavis," if I'm feeling special. There's just something special about winning the game and the princess at the end saying "Oh thank you, Beavis! You have saved Hyrule from Ganon! The children will be singing the praises of Beavis for generations etc etc etc"

Since I couldn't port my BG2 character into Neverwinter Nights like i thought i could, I made a "Hijo De Beavis" instead.

I tend to rename my characters depending on how much they annoy me during the game. Eventually, Beavis is saving the world accompanied by "Whiney McTittays", "Big Tongue Dude", "Felch Clackamas", "Spike Jonez", and "Random Blonde #251"

I went through a dark period in middle school of naming female characters after girls I had crushes on, but once you're older than 12 that gets kind of extremely creepy.

In the original Deus Ex, I always call JC 'cockbag', just so the message on the pad in Paul's apartment starts 'Hey cockbag', like a message from an older brother might do IRL.

I already made a post upthread about using autechre song names for my characters.

Anyway, the other day I was listening to some autechre and Sim Gishel started and all of a sudden I was reminiscing about my Dwarf Fighter from Icewind Dale 2.

Much like TOMBOT, I used to name characters exclamations, so that dialog boxes would pop up like: "F'FUCKSAKE, thank you!"

ha, yeah, used to do that one, too. and the move where you give every single character the same stupid name, like "HAM!" upthread, or "Steve", "NAKED?!" etc.

Just started one of the Harvest Moon games the other day. The protagonist, Slurpina, is working on Fishpits Farm and just acquired a horse named Cheezwiz. I forget her dog's name but rest assured that it's really, really stupid.

man i wish i could remember what i used for my first plays of the big hitter rpgs. i know my first playthru of FF6, on SNES9X circa 1999, was rife with anime characters - terra was "asuka" for sure. locke was "ferio," a similar-seeming rogueish hero from magic knight rayearth. but it was a mishmash - gau was "gurgi" from the prydain books. hmmm. maybe i can find them discussed in an ICQ chat log or something. i wasn't the kind of kid that went with dirty words ever but i really wonder what i would have used for FF1 when i was 10...

kinda lamer than i was hoping tbh, not one evangelion character among them. but this was april of 1998 and i'm not sure how deep i'd gotten into eva by that point.

at least, i used to. nowadays my main character is always birdie and my second is always ralph (my pet's names)

when i play the show's create a player mode, which is sort of like a rpg, i name my character "big dog bird" because the announcer knows how to say all of it and it makes me laugh

The last game of CoC I played in, the Keeper and I were hacked off with a couple of other players (one in particular) who had ruined the last game and we kind of wanted them to move on and find another group. In a completely dickish pass-agg move I played a Margaret Rutherford type called Lady Agatha Cholmondley-Cholmondley-Cholmondley-Cholmondley-Featherstonehaugh who insisted on being called by her full name at all times because it was the most polite thing to do.

I literally loled. This is so true to my experience. A bunch of adolescents with no social skills. Instead of calmly telling people in the group that you were not having fun anymore and perhaps it was best if you went your separate ways, you channeled your unhappiness into in-game beef.

Ludmilla Bad-Gland - a profoundly cool & murderous fun-loving nocturnal impertinent sneakster

i was always by the book and named the characters the defaults
