Afternoon entertainment thread

I'm bored.

I'm the only person in my department who's in the building at the moment. Nobody has been coming to see me in my office, nobody has been phoning up and asking me to do stuff, and none of the people I have to phone about stuff are in at the moment either. So, basically, I'm sat at my desk getting very, very bored. This is the thread where you post stuff to entertain me (or other people in similar situations)

(photos of hott kinky fetishes greatly accepted, as long as they're Safe For Work)

Wow

JBR: I'm amazed that someone can dangle from those rings *in a skirt*.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 3 February 2005 14:51 (twenty years ago)

it probably took a bit of repositioning to keep her covered up.

Nimrod Kovacs (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 3 February 2005 14:54 (twenty years ago)

One part does look carefully tucked under her left leg where it goes through the ring.

perhaps that sould have said ilxor's having fun. it doesn't matter really, is it possible to play scissor paper stone on here? i mean it would be so easy to cheat...

elwisty (elwisty), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:07 (twenty years ago)

Scissors paper stone is one of those games that only works when you can stand face-to-face and bore your eyes into each other's soul. At least, that's the only way you can win.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

That *is* the right spelling of "bore", right? Everytime I reread that sentence it looks wrong.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

that's correct.

Nimrod Kovacs (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:12 (twenty years ago)

Still a whole 105 minutes before I get to go home and frost my birthday cake

(not a euphemism)

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:15 (twenty years ago)

well, i am a dispassionate player of scissor paper stone, i'm not really the competitive type

elwisty (elwisty), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:16 (twenty years ago)

i've just spent most of the afternoon shopping for music on amazon, i think i've just successfully purchased the complete workings on the Warp label.

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

I would, but I try to avoid music shopping at this time of year - I wait to see what I get given as birthday presents.

I worked out recently that if I buy the first two Snow Patrol albums, I'll have every album released on Jeepster Recordings. Am I geeky enough to buy them even though Snow Patrol are rubbish, though?

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:19 (twenty years ago)

I'm totally bored too. At least SOME people have a BIRTHDAY tomorrow... ;)

Maybe we could set each other tasks on this thread or something? Seeing as I'm studying information retrieval at the moment and all...

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:20 (twenty years ago)

ELW: but scissors paper stone is like playing poker with your fingers.

(although I've never played strip scissors paper stone)

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:21 (twenty years ago)

Archel: if you want to retrieve some information on troubleshooting ODBC connectivity on a Lotus Domino on SuSE Linux server, be my guest. It's foxed me.

(the diagnostic connectivity-testing program runs FINE, but when it comes to making a proper connection document it all falls down)

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Pass.

I have already sent myself to sleep looking for journal articles about digital imaging in hospitals all morning. Maybe I shouldn't retrieve any more information, after all.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

Ooh, someone just phoned me.

Someone who wants to send me an invoice. For a support visit that I thought was free. Ooops. I hope my boss isn't going to be *too* unhappy when the bill lands on his desk for approval.

(as far as my boss - and anyone else - knows, we didn't have any *choice* as to whether to call support out or not, assuming we wanted the widget fixed.)

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:28 (twenty years ago)

It might be an invoice for £0.00. I get those all the time from our photocopier service people and every time I open one I freak out because I think 'oh no, THIS time it's a £3000 job, isn't it? Fuck.'

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:48 (twenty years ago)

We got a $1,000 invoice for a service that we had no idea cost any money at all, and we didn't even think we'd asked for. We didn't pay it. They left us alone.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:53 (twenty years ago)

I don't think this invoice will be for nothing, because they were phoning up to ask if I want to give them a purchase order number to put on it. I said I'd get back to them.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 3 February 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

(have just BEEN OUT OF MY OFFICE for the only time all afternoon - to put a new toner cartridge in someone's printer.)

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 3 February 2005 16:00 (twenty years ago)

My colleagues have returned, but have squirrelled themselves away in their own offices. So, I still need entertaining for twenty minutes.
