Site Admistrator (deangulberry), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you have a film fest? EH EH?

Film Frank, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a film fest. Everyone who came to it said that I am cool.

Film Fest Frank, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Like robots?

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:13 (twenty-one years ago)

My film fest is tops, mate.

Filmy Festering Frank, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

If there's one thing I know abut cool, it's that only the coolest people go around talking about how cool they are.

Pears can just fuck right off. (kenan), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Kenan, you are so cool.

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I am! Just ask me!

Pears can just fuck right off. (kenan), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

But, shouldn't we be talking about how cool Calum is?

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

CALUM THIS WEBSITE ISN'T WORKING!!!

Or Smeagol, as he used to be known.

xpost

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

We originally drew out these teaser questions so people could try and guess who our guest of honour director was... see if you can get it. It's all officially announced on Monday.

*His most famous horror film, which is now regarded as an
important and groundbreaking classic, took several years to get off the ground and revolutionised special effects.

*Has been known to cast other well known directors in cameo
roles.

*Gave a small role to a future "six degrees of" star with his
very first mainstream hit.

*Evidence may suggest a fondness for anthology films.

*Sports a beard

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

My film festival rocks as hard as Franz Ferdinand.

Film Feast Franc, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i've clicked on the site a bunch of times!!!! i just emailed their network administrator to let them know!!! i also tried ace@fearlesstales.com !!!

should i call them at 415-378-8786 ????
I'll ask for Michael Davidson or Angelica Fematt and see if they can help me out. Should I mention your name?

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously guys I've put alot of work into this and I think the results will be most delish! Admission is only fifty dollars per night, e-mail me at c4lum@theh0rrorpost.com if you're interested. We're having some trouble working out some kinks in the video projector but we expect to have it worked out by then - no worries. Leave the ladies at home though I'm afraid, there's no place for them here.

Film Frank, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

$50 to hang out with you?! WHERE DO I SIGN UP

Site Admistrator (deangulberry), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Only $50/night for amateur horror and fantasy films!?!?!?!?!! wow, much cheaper than film school!!!

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Michael and Angie have nothing to do with the fest, they're clerks basically nothing more. Direct all questions to me at carum@thehoxXorpost.Kom please! Should be fun! Especially if you like seeing stupid lasses cut to shreds!

Film Frank, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Nobody will come. You do not understand how fickle an SF audience can be. Also, they are not easily impressed by Scotsmen like yourself. They find them downright pitiful.

Pupil S Nobellist, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

And there won't be any women there! HOORAYEEE

Site Admistrator (deangulberry), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Leave the ladies at home though I'm afraid, there's no place for them here.

????

What about Angelica Fematt??

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I see, she's just a silly secretary.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I just spoke to Angie and she told me that there is a "Calum Robert" on staff, he is an unpaid intern used solely for the purpose of scraping gum off of the theater floor and licking clean the boots of Russian Hill gentry. Then she started laughing and hung up.

Pupil S Nobellist, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

That dumb tart is hardly a lady.

Film Frank, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Certainly call Angie and Mike if you want. They find a lot of the threads on here a laugh and they're very cool.

Of course if you're phoning them to harass them then you'll likely get into trouble with the law but why you'd want to bother two very nice folks is all you want.

Email me all you want at the horror post - the account is inactive.

Film Frank, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

You don't know shit about the law out here, son. Not until you've been given "the laughing stick" in the back of a Tenderloin jailhouse.

Pupil S Nobellist, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

MARCH 29 TO APRIL 3, 2005

Hmm, I think that's my week for re-organzing my lint collections. Bummer.

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

You guys crack me up.

I just wish I could point out what posts are actually mine. But, yes, you should all come. Amatuer? Don't think so. All films announced next week and our honoured guest is one of the greats! Our supporting guests are fucking cool too.

Film Frank, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

you are always bringing up the bloody law, you git. Do you think they have nothing else to do, the law I mean?

Allyzay, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously if you do want to e-mail me or Paypal ahead for tickets ($50 a night, this is to help cover the cost of renting a video projector) feel free to email me at calumrw@yahoo.co.uk

Film Frank, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I am very concerned for Calum Robert Waddell.

The Law (Amateur(ist)), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

You need to charge $50 PER PERSON to cover the costs of renting a video projector? I don't think so.

Pupil S Nobellist, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I like how Calum hasn't posted on this thread once.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, sure let me Paypal you money for your sketchy "festival."

Site Admistrator (deangulberry), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

CALUM WADDELL, I can't believe you called Michael Davidson and Angelica Fematt mere clerks!

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

“September 11th, 2001 rocked the very foundations of American society and put the entire world on notice that no person or thing is safe. We now live in an age when fear lurks within our everyday life, and Horror has a duty to reflect these concerns in a way that other genres are unable to, just as it has done in times past.”

– Calum Waddell, Horror Journalist and Fearless Tales Panelist

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

wait, we have a calum impersonator on our hands?

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll be showing two videos a night so I can assure you it will be worth it.

Film Frank, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, sure let me Paypal you money for your sketchy "festival."

But $50 for the video projector! How can you be so cruel as to deny him?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

So, it's $25 a video. That's a lot more than Blockbuster, guy.

Site Admistrator (deangulberry), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually Ned the guess the guest post was mine. Not sure wot was so bad about this thread to get so much crap but there you go...

Ceezah, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

"Who would have thought that a low budget film comprising a series of vignettes where a number of people share conversation over coffee (sometimes tea) and cigarettes, would make for one of the finest comedies of recent memory?"

Calum Waddell

Pupil S. Nobellist, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually Ned the guess the guest post was mine.

That post will cost you $50.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

haha holy shit

f--gg (gcannon), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm proud of you calum.

f--gg (gcannon), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha this thread is a crack up.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 3 February 2005 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex, tickets on sale Monday - yes, I've been saying they need to hurry it. Same last year. Late announcement. Part of the reason was that we were holding out on being able to announce Robert E (two thousand and one maniacs star/ Freddy) but his schedule now makes it unlikely he'll make it. And we only just got confirmation of two of the 35mm prints we wanted last week.

For the record...

The Castro screenings are:

The Candy Snatchers (lost 70s gem)
My Little Eye (went virtually unseen in the US)
Don't Look Back (US Premiere)
Malevolence (Bay Area premiere)
2000 Maniacs/ 2001 Maniacs preview/ 2001 Maniacs if its available which is a big if
Deep Red (clean print)
Two films honouring the guest of honor (*Koff* John Landis *Koff*)
Straight into Darkness (JEff Burr, Bay Area Premiere)
The Offspring (burr's debut with Vincent Price)

They might also be showing Shogun Assassin but we need to see what the print looks like first.

The Victoria screenings are digital but there's some goodies.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 3 February 2005 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to see a lot of this. Good choices!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 3 February 2005 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Jeff's gonna be available for a Q and A after The Offspring and Straight into Darkness too. Will have lots to say about working with Vincent Price etc should be cool.

Glad you like the choices. I'm told the Deep Red print is amazing.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 3 February 2005 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, that's exciting. Esp. at the Castro.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 3 February 2005 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Landis will be there too, schedule pending. And the director of 2001 Maniacs.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 3 February 2005 21:43 (twenty-one years ago)

The Candy Snatchers sounds good too:

"It started as such a simple crime. For 16 year old Candy, dying would have been easier! Was a piece of Candy worth a fortune in diamonds?"

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 3 February 2005 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Never seen it. Been dying to see it for so long that I HAD to get that.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 3 February 2005 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

it's sweet when he tries to show off. hang in there little guy!

Alienus Quam Reproba (blueski), Thursday, 3 February 2005 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

C-Man, I'm nowhere near SF otherwise I might've been interested

You'd have been welcome Ally! I'm sure you'd have been popular (being a girl and all... see I can take the piss out of stereotypes!)

OK, tickets are $95 for the whole event, which includes a Friday late showing of Rocky Horror with an on stage group of performers. The only extra is $35 for the Fearless Vision party after 2000 Maniacs, but for that all the guests are there. So it’s worth going.

C-Man (C-Man), Friday, 4 February 2005 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG the pwnij.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 4 February 2005 09:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Tickets now on sale, and digital screenings/ short films announced.

And, uhm, the guy who emailed Mike using some of the messages posted by bogus impersonaters of me and saying I'd been slagging him off. Guys a friend, of course he's not falling for that shit. Get a life loser.

C-Man (C-Man), Friday, 4 February 2005 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Our special guest announcement is now online - www.fearlesstales.com

To state the obvious, ticket sales = a third year.

C-Man (C-Man), Monday, 7 February 2005 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd be interested but i'm already in sf for a film festival and i'm leaving next week!

Who did release magic family out from the base of $499 (deangulberry), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 03:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Why?

C-Man (C-Man), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm surprised that no one seems to have brought up the potential of hecklers or even worse at this event. Calum, you have irritated and angered so many people here - Now I doubt any of the regulars would do something drastic, they probably care about the board and themselves too much to make a stink, but I'm wondering if you're worried about any of the lurkers - some of whom we may know nothing about, who may be less... stable? I suppose this could be a problem for anyone who posts publicly on ILX, but you in particular seem to have generated a lot of ill will. I'm sure you'll respond to this with some sort of boast about how well you fight, but frankly in your place I'd be worried, if not for my life, then certainly for my professional reputation.

(btw, I'm a logged out regular who's mildly annoyed by you, but would never ever attack you verbally or physically - I'm writing this because I'm actually a little worried about your safety).

Tanya Tucker, Friday, 11 February 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

Who said I'm stable?

See you there, Calum.

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 11 February 2005 22:09 (twenty years ago)

I will be there to interview the Freakout dudes...
I love me some freakout.

and I wouldn't miss hanging with calum for anything in the world!

Heidi Martinuzzi, Friday, 11 February 2005 22:18 (twenty years ago)

Ah thanks babe!

C-Man (C-Man), Friday, 11 February 2005 22:22 (twenty years ago)

They said you intimidated everyone in the stables, adam.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 11 February 2005 22:24 (twenty years ago)

Is this guy coming along then?

C-Man (C-Man), Saturday, 12 February 2005 00:14 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
Three more weeks. Why not renew the plug?

Zarr, Saturday, 12 March 2005 01:01 (twenty years ago)

I'm there!

Darius Rucker Lookalike (deangulberry), Saturday, 12 March 2005 01:04 (twenty years ago)

Come on the 1st. There's goodies to be won.

Zarr, Saturday, 12 March 2005 01:06 (twenty years ago)

Oh, you didn't mention the goodies before!

Darius Rucker Lookalike (deangulberry), Saturday, 12 March 2005 01:07 (twenty years ago)

There's annoncements expected on the site shortly. Some cool goodies to be won before the American Werewolf showing.

Zarr, Saturday, 12 March 2005 01:10 (twenty years ago)

Freebies news... we'll also have freebies before 2000 Maniacs on Thurs. the 31st.

Press release:

Everyone at Fearless Tales couldn’t be happier that John Landis is our honored guest this year – and attendees to the showing of An American Werewolf in London will be in for a special treat. Prior to the showing Fearless Tales will be offering lucky audience members the chance to win some superb prizes, including free subscriptions to ace genre publication Videoscope magazine and copies of the recent Dawn of the Dead 4 disc Special Edition, as supplied by our friends at Anchor Bay Entertainment.

As with last year, prizes will be given out in accordance to the audience member who gets in there first with the correct answer to challenging trivia questions!

Zarr, Thursday, 17 March 2005 19:48 (twenty years ago)

I'll be in Washington.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 17 March 2005 19:54 (twenty years ago)

More news:

David freaking Hess is attending on the 30th for the showing of his two new films. He is a pretty cool chap.

That rocks damnit, rocks.

Zarr, Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

You're not worried at all about Heckler Skelter? You do know that most of the people on this board dislike you. I still wonder if there are any weird ILX stalkers who will ironically turn your sicko film-fest into an actual blood-bath.

Tommy Tutone, Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

What a waste of money that would be for them. Paying cash to come in and heckle me and then be ejected.

Uh... whatever man. I'm easygoing and don't honestly dislike anyone on here so dunno why anyone would dislike me.

Zarr, Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:10 (twenty years ago)

It's hard being you, I see.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:11 (twenty years ago)

Ned, in all honesty - I don't have anything against you. I'll be in LA later in the month and you wanted to meet for a drink I'd be happy to do so. I'm totally open to socialising with anyone to be honest.

Zarr, Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:15 (twenty years ago)

Should be fun! Especially if you like seeing stupid lasses cut to shreds!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

You can hate me now (C'mon)

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:23 (twenty years ago)

Should be fun! Especially if you like seeing stupid lasses cut to shreds!

Uh... I never posted that. Considering the amount of women involved in the fest we don't really aim for that sort of thing at all.

Zarr, Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:25 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, but they're just employed as ottomans and refreshment tables, right?

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:26 (twenty years ago)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

Hahaha.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

Thanks for the constructive commentary Ned. Perhaps you would like to tell me what is funny, what you find amusing about the festival we have lined up and/ or maybe make suggestions in regards to how things could be improved to make it attractive to yourself?

Zarr, Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:43 (twenty years ago)

Did you breathe?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:45 (twenty years ago)

Ah, so clearly you're not going to say anything - or meet me face to face - just content to sit behind your screen and post insults. Well folks, as I said, myself and many of my friends will be around the finest city in the world and I would have had no problem offering a pint to anyone on ILX. I have no hatred for anyone - even Ned, whose goal is clearly to insult me. But, hey, whatever.

Zarr, Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

if an ilxor would be so kind as to take a profile shot of calum and post it here. thanks in advance.

bass braille (....), Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

DO you like Sparks?

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

Ned was surely responding to Tracer's posting of your promo poster, which features a naked women being cut (her arms, at least) to shreds, apparently by some film stock.

nickn (nickn), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:07 (twenty years ago)

Or woman, even.

nickn (nickn), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:08 (twenty years ago)

Well I didn't design the poster, a female did. Second, I don't think her arms are being cut - that was not the intention - the intention was to show blood on her hands to indicate that we are, first and foremost, a festival that celebrates horror.

So - uhm - sorry, you're seeing stuff in that poster that no one else on the festival sees.
