nabisco, you realize the opposite reaction of prostate milking would be experiencing an orgasm while sperm shoots into your dick, yes?

"CT: Can you at least spell that right, asshole?"

In 5th grade, my teacher wrote a list of all of the states on the chalkboard and spelled this state "Connecticutt." I knew that didn't look right, but I wasn't sure what was wrong, so I figured it must be the second C. So I raised my hand and said isn't that incorrect? And she said, "No, that's how it's spelled! It's silent!" etc. etc. For the rest of the lesson, I stared at that extra T at the end, knowing I'd seem like an asshole if I raised my hand again.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 4 February 2005 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Language-geek quibble: an acronym is an abbreviation that can be pronounced as a word--NATO, NASA, SCUBA, etc.

OH, VA, DE, etc., are postal abbreviations. There is another system of abbreviating states that preceded the postal abbreviations. Va., La., and Ga. are remnants of that system of abbreviation.

BLT, URL, USA, PDA, etc., are properly called initialisms, though the widespread misuse of acronym for these is gaining in currency.
