1. Insomnia on a Monday night. Usually it takes me all week to build enough anxiety to still be up at this hour.
2. I shaved the beard I've been growing since NY's, but left the moustache. I'm not old school enough to make it look manly, and I'm not fey enough to make it look like an ironic statement on manliness, like the Village People or something. I just sort of look really friendly in an incredibly creepy sort of way.
3. the rest of my face feels so soft
4. new Joel Plaskett album. there are 4, maybe 5 really good songs. the rest are half-baked and should have been held over and worked on for the next album.
5. I'm this close to applying for a job again.
6. THIS CLOSE. Like, I've touched up my resume and tweaked it for this position. Made it sexy.
7. It's not an ideal job by any means, but it's in a different city, and it's something I can reasonably expect to handle.
8. Reading Daredevil: King of Hell's Kitchen from the public library. Who would have thought that a superhero having a nervous breakdown would be so awesome? Brian Michael Bendis, that's who. I always forget that he's the same guy who writes Powers, even though it's all the same.
9. I watched Charlie Rose tonight. It's so bizarre to watch TV interviews like that. Where people ask follow-ups and subjects don't just relate a hilarious anecdote and the interview just mugs and then they roll a clip.
10. I'm not sure Kanye was ready for a long-form interview like that. He seemed a little restless.

2) Excellent new books to read, including a great history of North Korea
3) More freelance writing options being pursued
4) Private but promising developments
5) Birthday coming up, FAPs and all, but more importantly:
6) Coordinating a crackerjack group gift for a close non-ILX friend, also having a birthday
7) Damn there's lots of good music out there, but the recent Dalek, Patrick Wolf and Your Enemies Friends in particular are sharp as hell.
8) Cold/flu stuffage pretty well gone by now
9) The Gypsy Den's delicious cafe au laits, cheap and wonderful.

1) Me and my girlfriend getting increasingly snippy with each other as we wait to move into our new apartment. I've been crashing at her current space, as my own place has become uninhabitable - it's a basement apartment, and a leaky one at that - and it's getting increasingly claustrophobic as the packed-up boxes begin to stack up. Just two more weeks...

2) Realizing that, yes, I have gained back about 70% of the weight I lost over 2003-2004. Waiting to set up the home gym at the new apartment.

3) Making moves to gracefully drop a freelance client who is making me completely mental. It's getting harder and harder to mask my dislike for him, so it's time to pull the plug.

4) Waiting for the goddamn snow to finally melt.

5) Relishing the arrival of an iPod Mini, on order through my work.

6) Mark Consumption's excellent MP3 mixes. Realizing that I've missed out on a lot of good techno over the last few years, and starting to catch up.

7) A breakthrough in my own music production and remix skills.

8) The buck-a-CD blowout sale at Sam The Record Man.

9) Catching up with the woman who introduced me to my girlfriend, and who played no small part in hooking us up, and whose immediate reaction to the news of our new apartment was "You mean, you guys haven't moved in yet?!!"

10) Beef-Fried Ho Fun at the Asian take-out place near my work. So amazing... see item 2).
