I don't know if I can do part of my job (weeding bookstacks), given my sinus problems

I just recently got finished taking an antibiotic for what might or might not have been a sinus infection, and I did seem to improve (despite not reading the instructions and taking it improperly for three or four days), but this evening I developed a killing headache and my nose is producing green stuff. It could be a change in weather, but I'm thinking it may be the small number of old books I was handling today, wearing a face mask no less. I have to start weeding books heavily, but it seems that every time I begin, I get sinus problems, even with the mask on. The stacks have been allowed to gather dust, dirt (god knows what exactly), etc.

I may have to make an issue out of this, but I will shortly be involved in a conflict over another issue at work, and I don't think my boss or the administration will be feeling generous toward me. But maybe it's better to just get everything out of the way at once. If I can't do the weeding without going home with a sinus headache, I think it's not unreasonable to be excused from it. Except. . . it's a major part of my job really. I think there could be a legal issue, however, given the way the stacks have been maintained, so it might be worth taking that angle, though I won't jump into it, since I'm already considering formally grieving something else through the union.

I wish I had picked a different occupation.

Any chance you can have a sinus swab done to detect if the cause is, say, a mold allergy or somesuch? A medical cert could help your case then, I would imagine.

I'll talk to my allergist about it. I definitely have mold allergies. But I also have dust allergies. (But that's really dust mite excrement allergies, and I wonder if there are many dust mites in the stacks. Aren't they more into dried flakes of human skin?)

Aye, I don't doubt all of that would be in old books, and all of that can'tbe good for you. Not sure what else you could do if you already wear a dust mask tho! :/
