Do you get zits on your scalp?

Not on your face, but up top on your lid, where your long hair grows? I have some right now and my follicles are sore. Is there a shampoo or something to zap these?

I think everyone does. They're more common for those who shave their head.. you know, the ingrowing hairs get redirected and confused and all.

But is there a treatment? These hurt bad enough to be distracting, like mild chicken pox.

Chicken pox growths don't have any feeling at first.. they only itch AFTER they dry out.. so I doubt it's that.

I've never heard of herpes that occured on the scalp, but weirder has happened, so if you know you have it, and it HURTS hurts, then leave that shit alone as much as you can.

But if they are just plain ol' zits on your scalp, just let them dry out. the world won't end if you pop them, but those scabs will take longer to go away, and you never know if, after you pop the zits, you'll fall head first into a VAT OF SALT!! *sting sting sting*

(but if it's a sudden inflamation of these things in a very localized area, and it's *really* painful, call a nurse or something, and ask what's up..)

I hate these lumps. I always worry they're skin cancer and can't check them.

....or pretty much any scalp treatment with coal tar in it.

Thank you kate/papa november. Donut Christ I am celibate so no chance of std, but thanks for the details.

Thats okay. Anytime. When you think of pimply scalps, think of me.

Ionil/pine tar shampoo also helpful if you have psoriasis on the scalp, which can be itchy and painful, and manifests as flaky, almost fish scale like lumps. God I hate it. Its in my hair, my eyebrows.. agrh.

Yah, thats why we have it. Darren shaves his head and it's like snowflakes if he doesn't get this on it asap.

I get a few of these from time to time. I'll be scratching my head innocently and then AAAAARRGH. Hurts like a mofo.

I use Nizoral 2% three times a week to get rid of any scalp irritation.

Less talk about scalp zits, more talk about butt zits

Haven't had any of note since I started blow-drying my hair regularly. I think it dries out excess oil or something.

You might just be sensitive to sodium lauryl sulphate, the foaming agent used in most bathroom products including toothpaste. A lot of people are. A product that uses a natural foaming agent might solve the problem - I swear by

nine years pass...

This is so damn itchy I feel like insects are crawling out the top of my head!

I've only had this 5 days but I'll be going to the doctor if it keeps up much longer.

Couldn't sleep last night because the irritation was so painful, this is the worst health problem I've had in many many years.
Reading more about the symptoms online I think I've got Folliculitis.
I Got a very quick doctors appointment and they gave me 2 sets of pills for a simple infection and the possibility of shingles.

Some of the articles online are worrying because some people say they've had this recurring condition for as long as 15 years.
I really hope this goes away soon and never comes back because right now I feel so irritated I don't think I could focus enough to read fiction, draw or listen to music.

I once saw this old bald guy years ago who looked like he had massive crusty chocolate chips on his head. I really hope I don't end up like that. I also hope he didn't stay like that for long.
