I'm a phone man myself, nothing worse I can think of having to wait 15 minutes glaring at the tiles on the wall or re-reading the menu over and over again.

Planning ahead saves time.

Huk-L, Thursday, 10 February 2005 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

or "we're just waiting a few minutes for the chips"

AARGH!

but.... inevitable phone order screwups and why would you miss the chance to play on the fruit machine or be screamed at by crazy people or read a 3 month old issue of Nuts?

I remeber this place in oxford that had the road blasters arcade game, the memories. I was once so viceral and very much at life's counter, now I feel like i am just phoning it in.

I am on the phone right now with the Thai place! It is ringing!

I fail at phoning ahead. I make someone else do it.

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 10 February 2005 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG when I went to pick the food up, the wee little cashier girl was SOOOOOOOOO friggin cute. I hope she has a thing for big loud hairy white men who are four times their size.

known vaginatarian (nickalicious), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

er, her size...

known vaginatarian (nickalicious), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I always phone it in.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I usually phone in, or in fact my girlfriend usually does because I have an irrational fear of ordering takeaways on the phone. The thing is I always have this sneaking feeling that they wait until I come in before they even start cooking it.

By far the best option is to order at the counter and then pop to the nearest pub for a quickie.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Friday, 11 February 2005 11:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Chewshabadoo OTM. Order at the counter then go to the pub. We even used to get discounts at our local Chinese just for bringing them back change when we picked the food up.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 11 February 2005 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

yes I had that feeling the other day, i phoned up and they said it would be 5 minutes. so i arrived after 10 minutes. It still wasn't ready. in all i waited 20 minutes

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 11 February 2005 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Delivery is the way forward. No screw-ups with the ordering if you give the numbers, and you get to stay at home and drink wine. And if there is ever a screw up, let's face it, you're ordering chinese because you can't be bothered to cook yourself, so it doesn't really make much odds to what you're eating.

Important factor not being mentioned:

you could DIE if you leave the house.
