Yay

He is awesome.

Huk-L, Friday, 11 February 2005 06:00 (twenty years ago)

He's Molly Johnson's brother! His laid-back commmentary, btw, on the Wire DVD is really funny, coming after David Simon's egoncentrism.

Ego-centrism

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Friday, 11 February 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

Egon Schiele?

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 11 February 2005 21:06 (twenty years ago)

Egon Spengler.

It's, uh, finally here!

I was looking for this thread on Friday. I'm super-excited.

Huk-L, Monday, 4 April 2005 19:23 (twenty years ago)

Am I the only who saw this?
It was really, really good. Best Cdn TV movie I've ever seen. AND, it left lost of dangling plot threads so I hope it becomes a series of movies.

Clark Johnson was in almost every frame.

You didn't come here to hunt, did you?

Stephen X (Stephen X), Friday, 8 April 2005 14:44 (twenty years ago)

Murderers lie cuz they got to, witnesses lie because they think they got to, and everybody else lies for the sheer joy of it.

five months pass...
I saw Clark Johnson in Toronto today! Queing up outside the Varsity cinema. He was wearing a wicked sky-blue felt hat.

That is all.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Monday, 12 September 2005 19:23 (twenty years ago)

I idolize you, Chuck.

seven months pass...
Why didn't anybody tell me The Sentinel was a Clark Johnson picture??? I had to read all the way to the last or second last paragraph of Ebert's review to find out.

one month passes...
I saw The Sentinel last night. It was okay, very well done, but sort of lacking. A very typical Michael Douglas "I made some very poor choices and now people are trying to kill me" movie. It's a lot better than SWAT, but nowhere near as good as any of the TV stuff Johnson's directed.
HOWEVER, I NEARLY PLOTZED AT THE LINE "SO THE BEAR SAYS TO THE GUY, 'YOU DIDN'T COME HERE TO HUNT, DID YOU?'"

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 14:19 (nineteen years ago)

It'll make me so happy if that becomes Johnson's directorial trademark.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 14:33 (nineteen years ago)

Another thing I liked about it is that Johnson really made Toronto look awesome, AND let Toronto stand in for Toronto.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

Do you think it qualifies as the Great Toronto Film? At least until For Better or For Worse: The Musical gets made?

Stephen X (Stephen X), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 14:58 (nineteen years ago)

I think it'll be seen as the John the Baptist of Toronto films. Someone else will make a big-budget movie ENTIRELY set in Toronto someday because of the climax of The Sentinel.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 15:02 (nineteen years ago)

Jesus of Toronto!

Stephen X (Stephen X), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 15:08 (nineteen years ago)

What is a good Toronto movie? (That's set in Toronto, that is.) (Last Night doesn't count.)

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 19:23 (nineteen years ago)

Why doesn't Last Night count?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 19:26 (nineteen years ago)

And to answer yr question, not to get too Clark Johsnon fanboyyish, Tripping the Wire: A Stephen Tree Mystery is a TV movie, but it's really good.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 19:28 (nineteen years ago)

Last Night doesn't count 'cause, I dunno, even people who live outside of Toronto know it's a Toronto film. (Obv. it is good.)
