I am becoming my (parent)

I realized today in the midst of a detailed explanation to someone who couldn't have given less of a fuck about what I was talking about, that I am indeed becoming my mother. My mother, god love her, will talk to anyone about anything, and is in her greatest glory when she can tell someone a big long - and might I mention, completely irrelevant - story about something, when all she really needs to do is ask them something like "hi, where do you keep the garden hoses?"

Tell me how you are also becoming your (parent of choice).

I totally get my OCD-like pedantry from my Mom. This is great for some of the work I have to do, because things like audio editing and mixing need surgical attention to detail.
It's hell for other aspects of my life, though - if I have a serious altercation with someone, I have a horrible tendency to fixate on (and stew about) what happened. I can't let go until my brain decides that it's time. I've discussed this with my mother, and she says she's absolutely like that (too).

I think we're just more simpatico on a lot of things now, my folks and I. My dad's outgoing personality meets my mom's desire to curl up in a blanket and read/watch something/listen to music = hi there! (now go away)
