I want to be Billy Name, sleeping in the cupboard and watching the exploding plastic inevitable pass by...

Urban legend: a militant group of NYU film students once kidnapped Andy and drove him to an empty theatre, chaining him to a chair while his 30 min. film of the Empire St. building was projecting. Andy pulls some Houdini shit and escapes! Yow!

Fave Warhol story is him sending an imposter in heavy make-up on a 'speaking tour' of colleges, and the imposter answering every question from the floor with "Yes", "No", or "You know, I don't think about it". Apparently he got away with it almost until the end of the tour, when the guy's make-up was blown off by a heavy wind.

that's some wind: even the foundation?

See, that's the funny part - I think the 'make-up' consisted of haphazardly applied talcum powder or something, which was explained as a 'skin condition' - i.e., the guy just looked like a mess, like a prank that wouldn't even work in an office! But it DID!

My favourite Andy Warhol story is about him carting money and valuables around in claggy carrier bags to avoid getting mugged for them. He never was.

I've always adored this scene, but I read Mary Waronov's biography, and she basically said that while she loved hanging out with those people, they were mostly a bunch of horrible, creepy speed freaks who weren't even nice to eachother. It's a chilling read, and I recommend it.

Thought you meant The Factory in Manchester. Anyway I would love to be Edie Sedgwick. Or maybe not, some of the tings she did would be too *me*.
