I remember looking at this game on an Amstrad CPC in my now defunct local branch of Comet circa 1989. I have to this day never actually played it but I remember standing in front of the monitor in the shop and looking intently at all the different levels.

Gilligan finally being exposed as the careerist fraud that he is. A pity someone (Kelly) had to die just so he could make his name known. I hope he's prepared for when it happens to him - as it will.
Live by Good Stories and you'll die by them.

wtf. kelly spoke to gilligan voluntarily. it was alastair campbell who effectively leaked his name to the press.
was exposing the fraud involved in the run-up to war just another Good Story?
― Judd Nelson (special guest stars mark bronson), Wednesday, 4 March 2009 09:16 (sixteen years ago)
Creating a strawman and causing his death in the hope that he might rub shoulders with the Smith Square mob clearly was.
― Here he is with the classic "Poème Électronique." Good track (Marcello Carlin), Wednesday, 4 March 2009 09:43 (sixteen years ago)
wait what?
i don't know if gilligan was or wasn't a tory voter in 2003. i don't think he was particularly right wing, but, y'know, given that the new labour government has been the worst since the 1930s, i also don't particularly give a fuck right now. and gilligan was one of those who did not go along with the pro-war consensus, which puts him on the side of the angels, to an extent.
i don't think he caused kelly's death. i think alastair campbell did that. and that guy who squeezed him in the special hearing. and, well, david kelly himself in the end. oh yeah and mossad.
― Judd Nelson (special guest stars mark bronson), Wednesday, 4 March 2009 09:48 (sixteen years ago)
Worth reading this. Gilligan spun Kelly's comments something rotten.

― Pete W, Wednesday, 4 March 2009 09:54 (sixteen years ago)
Gilligan is a card-carrying Tory and has been trying to worm his way into a safe seat for years.
But clearly you agree with The Court Of Public Opinion that innocent men should die as a result of governmental incompetence, tabloid pressure and a shyster's attempt to make his name. Fine if that's what you want, but don't expect me to vote for it.

yeah im aware it was not tip-top journalism. but... the hutton enquiry?
Gilligan is a card-carrying Tory
might be now. he wasn't always though. like i say: i don't that much care in this context. card-carrying labour party members have nothing to be proud of.
idk mayne, i don't want to intrude but are you off your fucking meds?

The people who are off their medication are the spineless jellyfish who allow the likes of Gilligan, Clifford, Wade and Dacre to dictate public policy in this country instead of standing up to the bullies.
― Here he is with the classic "Poème Électronique." Good track (Marcello Carlin), Wednesday, 4 March 2009 10:03 (sixteen years ago)
for record: yes gilligan is weird and im aware there is a lot wrong about him. he's a terrible man for the sockpuppeting. however...
in the case of gilligan exposing government lies that led to war, how is that dictating public policy or not standing up to the bullies? it's pretty dim to think that rebekah wade, rather than, say, the actual architects of british foreign and economic policy in govermnent and the city, is the author of this government's downfall.
― Jesus Lulz (special guest stars mark bronson), Wednesday, 4 March 2009 10:07 (sixteen years ago)
The author of this Government's downfall is cowardice. Fear of media criticism, fear that they'll lose the election.
Contrast with Obama who immediately grasped the point that if you're voted in on a left-leaning ticket you should at least make a fist of acting left-wing - and the benefits are already evident.
This Government had the capacity, the ability and the mandate to do so much but they were so scared of what Wade or Dacre might have to say about them and that Mr and Mrs Goebbels of Auschwitz Avenue, Little Gassing, wouldn't vote for them next time that they crawled and writhed in a bad impersonation of the Tories.
― Here he is with the classic "Poème Électronique." Good track (Marcello Carlin), Wednesday, 4 March 2009 10:16 (sixteen years ago)
Rebekah Wade is about as pro-Gordon Brown as newspaper editors get these days. And yes laying the whole thing at the media's door does tend to completely overlook one or two very important things - but on the other hand if it hadn't been for the Murdoch media we would have joined the Euro years ago and our currency wouldn't be virtually worthless right now.
― Roque Santa Gold (Matt DC), Wednesday, 4 March 2009 10:18 (sixteen years ago)
Also I know it helps the over-emotive tone of this whole debate but Kelly didn't "have to" die - he fucking killed himself.
― Roque Santa Gold (Matt DC), Wednesday, 4 March 2009 10:22 (sixteen years ago)
So you agree with the mob rule that says we need to have strawmen and they have to be sacrificed. Fine if that's what you want!

It's the business of this Government to construct strawmen, of whatever stripe - David Kelly, Sharon Shoesmith, Fred Goodwin - to distract attention from their own incompetence and mistakes.
Plus, of course, lonely suicides, sackings/victimisation and demands for the return of money to which the holder is legally entitled because The Court Of Public Opinion won't stand for it - see Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch court speech for a particularly queasy parallel - are all Good Stories.

Fred Goodwin signed a contract and whether you like it or not is legally entitled to his pension fund. That it wasn't checked by Brown before signing isn't his fault.
But I suspect the anti-Fred campaign is being more driven by the usual British envy and jealousy of rich people and their millions than by any sense of perceived wrongdoing or injustice.
