Which is Worse: McDonald's hip-urban-youth campaign or Nike's lame ass 1984/"The Cell" wire mask campaign?

McDonald's is now and forever a children's restaurant and should be treated as such. Bring back Mayor McCheese. The jingle rips off Outkast's "so fresh and so clean, clean" too.

I think Timberlake should just put on the Ronald McDonald outfit and breakdance.

The answer to this question is "we're about to have our DirecTV account cancelled and bump our Netflix account from 3 discs to 8 at a time."

Yeah, I like the ad even though I hate Nike.

I like the McDonald's ads! They are so ugly and squalid, it's such a strong break from any sort of aspirationality, it feels like an ad campaign FROM THE FUTURE.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 18 February 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

I would wager that 7 out of 10 Asians prefer KFC.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 18 February 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

Huk-L, Friday, 18 February 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

i don't know what "hip-urban-youth" mcdonald's ads you mean, but those sandwich-board ones are gobsmackingly bad.

Jimmy Mod Has Returned With Spices And Silks (ModJ), Friday, 18 February 2005 19:54 (twenty years ago)

I think they're awesome and I am not high.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 18 February 2005 20:01 (twenty years ago)

And I saw one McD ad that had, like, freeform Gil Scott Heron poetry-rap about the wonders of their salads that nobody buys but they heavily advertise to deflect their trans-fatty bad rep... Ugh, it was awful.

andy --, Friday, 18 February 2005 20:02 (twenty years ago)

The Nike Ad with the broad shouldered lady throwing her self about? I'm so not in their demographic.

We're Asian and Pacific Islander Americans and our diverse cultures and our everyday American lifestyle are becoming one. We're hanging on to our great traditions while we move to the beat of the times. We honor our heritage and we love being Americans. From high fashion to high tech, from Asian Pacific American hip hop to haute cuisine, we're weaving the threads of our culture into the fabric of everyday American life. Whether we're celebrating one of our cultural holidays or enjoying a Big Mac sandwich, we're helping make the magic mix called America become even richer. And McDonald's is right there with us, everyday! We are proud of our cultural heritage.

they need to update their version at www.i-am-a-drunk-white-guy.com, tho. it's TOTALLY using last year's marketing plan.

Proof I avoid TV = this is the first I've heard of either of these ad campaigns. Tarsem, you say?
