"pwn": A typo-deliberate version of own, a slang term that means to dominate. This could also be spelled "0\/\/n3d" or "pwn3d," among other variations. Online video game bullies or "griefers" often use this term.

AND LIKE EVERYONE WHO GAMES ONLINE.

"ph": often replaces "f," as in "phear" for "fear" (as in "ph34r my l33t skillz")

I just ordered a new gaming pc!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 18 February 2005 23:55 (twenty years ago)

What good games can I buy now for cheap?

Remy (null) (x Jeremy), Friday, 18 February 2005 23:57 (twenty years ago)

I don't even know anymore since I haven't played seriously for a couple years. I'm getting this one so I can play Half-Life2, Doom3 and Homeworld2 (oh and I guess do stuff like work and make music).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Saturday, 19 February 2005 00:04 (twenty years ago)

where did you order from, spencer?

dan (dan), Saturday, 19 February 2005 00:07 (twenty years ago)

cyberpowersystems.com

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Saturday, 19 February 2005 00:13 (twenty years ago)

Their prices are absolutley incredible - cheaper than ordering the parts myself. I'm prepared to be let down on the service and support front, but I'm picking it up myself and will check all the parts before I accept it, and then rely on the manufacturers warranties. Although they do pick up the phone.

whoops! http://www.cyberpowersystem.com is correct (not plural)

"kewl": A common derivation of "cool." (common, meaning fucking lame/annoying)

you will be. i can say from experience that these no-name service/support lackeys are useless -- totally uninterested in helping you, taking a million years to send replacement parts out and making you call them so they can say they haven't even sent them out yet. and if you (god forbid) want to have a technician come over to assist you, they discourage it.

i hope you bought the more high-end parts and didn't settle for the cheapo stuff.

Well, I've had the same experience with Dell, so I'm prepared for it. I was actually going to build it myself, but there was just no way I could do it for this cheap. Another reason I'm going with them is that they really do have the latest and best parts (which again I'll be checking before I take delivery). I actually have read quite a few satisified customer reviews of them, so I'm hopeful.
