Neil Morrissey. Jimmy Carr. And annoying man who thinks it's funny to shout at his pretend baby in a busy shopping centre while people around stare worriedly.

Predictably rubbish.

Alienus Quam Reproba (blueski), Saturday, 19 February 2005 23:22 (twenty years ago)

i'm ashamed to say i actually just laughed at that "celebrity spotting" bit.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 19 February 2005 23:27 (twenty years ago)

Interesting that it follows Nathan Barley on Ch4 - as it's clearly designed by hyuk-hyuking, we-are-good-at-telly, braindead Barley types. Negates the need for NB almost.

David Merryweather (DavidM), Monday, 21 February 2005 00:47 (twenty years ago)

it gets almost 1.1 million viewers more than Barley which has slipped to something like .9 million, it is also possibly the worst thing on tv ever. Jimmy Carr looks lost as the whole thing falls apart around him. Those two "comedians" what? are they actually proffesionals? They actually get paid?

elwisty (elwisty), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:00 (twenty years ago)

I saw the first one, with Vinnie Jones as the "guest presenter". It was, as you might have predicted, one of the worst things on telly ever.

(I was going to say *the* worst thing on telly ever, but then I remembered that awful awful gameshow that Vernon Kaye did a year or so ago)

caitlin (caitlin), Monday, 21 February 2005 07:34 (twenty years ago)

This really is offensively banal to say the least. A magazine show where pretty much NOTHING happens at all and seems tailor-made for braying Sun readers to mong in front of. The few jokes that were in there were piss poor and just bad taste (and not in a good way).

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 21 February 2005 08:08 (twenty years ago)

I got offered tickets to go and watch the filming of this. Despite the offers of free booze, I turned them down.

Johnney B, Monday, 21 February 2005 08:13 (twenty years ago)

It really is quite bad. I laughed occasionally (celebrity spotting) and the "house band" is a nice touch (musical guests play jingles of their own songs between segments as well as closing the show with the new single or whatever) but Rob Rouse is fucking unfunny. What a goon. Jimmy Carr is wasted on this.

Crackity (Crackity Jones), Monday, 21 February 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

god i just lost my shit there!

"Jimmy Carr is wasted on this"

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHA

BWAHAHAHA

NRQ, Monday, 21 February 2005 12:15 (twenty years ago)

Jimmy Carr need to get his face the fuck off the TV for 5 minutes.

I saw the first one. They had Vinnie Jones trying to distinguish between gay kisses and celebratory football kisses (which couldn't possibly be gay, obv.) then doing a sub Trigger Happy TV fake jeweller heist. Paul Gasgoine (G8?)appeared as a startled rabbit for 15 seconds.

They repeat it on Saturdays just in case you forget how bad it was.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 21 February 2005 12:37 (twenty years ago)

They've only got guest presenters and have done away with a regular theme tune because the main things that shows like 'The Word' and 'The Girlie Show' and all the ever more recent increasingly naff ones, etc etc etc, got slated for were their crap presenters and shitty theme tunes, right?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Monday, 21 February 2005 12:53 (twenty years ago)

They repeat it on Saturdays just in case you forget how bad it was.

and because it's more 'cost-effective' to repeat stuff. as is showing films. E4 are showing films now. so is every single digital channel now (Living, Paramount, MTV2). how lazy.

Sven Bastard (blueski), Monday, 21 February 2005 12:55 (twenty years ago)

It does really annoy me that Channel 4's Saturday night lineup is identical to their Friday night lineup. They've become Channel4 +24.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Monday, 21 February 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

It's depressing.

I reckon Hufty will be guest presenter soon. And they'll do "Wanker of the Week"

jel -- (jel), Monday, 21 February 2005 18:34 (twenty years ago)

ha, i was quite grateful for the Nathan Barley repeat tho as i was oot Friday night. i guess it's not quite essential viewing tho.

Sven Bastard (blueski), Monday, 21 February 2005 18:36 (twenty years ago)

Was the Charlie Sheen comedy any good?

jel -- (jel), Monday, 21 February 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

Well, I laffed at the Vinnie one. Missed the Kelly one. Jordan next, isn't it?

They have actually officially changed their name to Channel Carr, honest...

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 22 February 2005 17:08 (twenty years ago)

they rotate it depending on what's on

Point Pleasant = Channel Bore
late-night horror movie season = Channel Gore
Location Location Location = Channel Tour
Time Team = Channel Tor
The Real Julius Caesar = Channel S.P.O.R.
Desperate Housewives = Channel Whore
Big Brother = Channel McCaw

thanks you've been alright

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 22 February 2005 17:52 (twenty years ago)

Once again I fell asleep during Nathan Barley, and woke up to see Jordan guest presenting this and droning her way through the unfunniest 'monologue' ever. I think she got 'monologue' confused with 'monotone'.

"Yes. Hello. I. Am. Jordan. And. I. Am. Presenting. Even. Though. I. Have. No. Sense. Of. Comic. Timing."

It would almost be worth catching the repeat just to see this. Hopefully if she audtions for any other TV presenting in the future someone will have the good sense to watch a tape of tonight's travesty beforehand.

Seriously, it was one of worst bits of autocue-reading I've ever heard.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Friday, 25 February 2005 22:53 (twenty years ago)

I mean, what the fuck?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Friday, 25 February 2005 23:02 (twenty years ago)

This is the worst telly ever! Brigitte Nielsen + Nadia + Jimmy Carr + toilet humour = YYAAHHHHHHHHHHH!! :(

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 23:18 (twenty years ago)

But, er, john McCririck v Brigitte Nielsen armwrestling match...

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 23:33 (twenty years ago)

I am about to lose the contents of my stomach looking at McCririck's waistline...also WHY IS MOBY ON THIS SHOW?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

ten months pass...
All new series! Now with an extra gay host! He'll say something outrageous like "Anal sex, eh?" in a minute!

Who the fuck commissions this shit?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 6 January 2006 22:42 (nineteen years ago)

I can only surmise that you are recovering smack addict who has supplemented his need for black tar heroin with a burning desire for the shittest that British culture has to offer, SUCH is your dedication to this unforgivable crap!

[tuvan throat singer's profound lyric sheet-must read again] (nordicskilla), Friday, 6 January 2006 22:45 (nineteen years ago)

Hahahahaha he just said "Chav"! Comedy genius!

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 6 January 2006 22:46 (nineteen years ago)

Dreadful, despite my new found Dr. Who derived Billie love. I've just switched off.

That ice rink's right near my house.

chap who would dare to work for the man (chap), Friday, 6 January 2006 23:01 (nineteen years ago)

i was getting ready to go out, and this was on, downstairs. but then my stomach felt ropey and i ended up sitting down drinking lots of water, and seeing some of this

it seemed to be based around the premise that billie piper is likable. i wasnt sure that was enough for a television show. i suppose it was amiable, its unlikely i'll ever see it again

i never did go out either, i don't really know whats up with my stomach

calderdale in the 70s (gareth), Saturday, 7 January 2006 00:00 (nineteen years ago)

Someone just came up to me in town centre and insisted that I was Alan Carr. wtf?

Sadly, he will be the next Alexis Petridish. (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 19 September 2006 15:03 (nineteen years ago)

banriquit, Sunday, 22 June 2008 20:33 (seventeen years ago)

pharrel williams clearly has a really terrible sense of humour.

Previous week's Agyness Deyn song wasn't too bad, actually.

Mark G, Monday, 23 June 2008 08:52 (seventeen years ago)

never want to see or hear of agness deyn again....

Ronan, Monday, 23 June 2008 09:29 (seventeen years ago)

“Mighty Boosh are always looking amazing, kinda mis-matched, a bit eclectic, kind of very rock ‘n’ roll-y, scarves round their head- a bit Pirates of the Caribbean”

“Ian Brown, very Manchester, you know, with his raincoat on.”

“Sophie Ellis Bextor always looks amazing”

“Dita von Teese - I saw her at Coachella and she had the most amazing outfit, she always looks really cute.

“Har Mar Superstar - Usually he just has shorts on with his top off, crazy hair and big sunglasses”.

two weeks pass...

This show is still bollocks, btw

The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Sunday, 13 July 2008 19:02 (seventeen years ago)

fucking hell

carr off to itv?

Frogman Henry, Sunday, 13 July 2008 20:25 (seventeen years ago)

It is still bollocks and I know this deep in my heart yet I watch it occasionally and crack up with actual laughter. Maybe its coz its so stupid or my standards have drastically slipped and I don't expect better.

VeronaInTheClub, Sunday, 13 July 2008 20:29 (seventeen years ago)

What is with the massive fear of 'catching the gay' syndrome that Pharell blatantly had when he was on the show? I've noticed this with other rappers who overreact so badly that they appear to have their own latent poorly disguised sexuality issues to deal with. Kanyeeeze was alright with Alan and Mark sucks big time, he is nice to look at but he is also butters. Does that make sense?

VeronaInTheClub, Sunday, 13 July 2008 20:31 (seventeen years ago)

(xpost) Maybe because the standards of TV in general have drastically slipped?

snoball, Sunday, 13 July 2008 20:32 (seventeen years ago)

This weeks was the boring.

They dressed up as Eastenders. Then they dressed up as Carrion chars doing Eastenders.

I sort of hung on for the tings but gave up.

Mark G, Monday, 14 July 2008 08:23 (seventeen years ago)

i find this show genuinely funny but usually turn off half way through because i have a headache. i like alan carr.

jed_, Monday, 14 July 2008 11:22 (seventeen years ago)

five months pass...

C4 really ought to axe this lame duck of a show and moving it to Sundays is probably indicative that they're easing it out slowly.

Tom Jones looking more and more like a George Romero zombie every time he comes on TV. Yeuccch.

Brother Belcher (Marcello Carlin), Monday, 15 December 2008 08:56 (sixteen years ago)

I know and he used to look so good.
