I never get on well with any blued eyed people. I'm not sure why.

kate/papa november (papa november), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:18 (twenty years ago)

i don't think i could tell you the eye color of any of the people i've dated

That's because you're male.

I am always amazed at the ability of the females of our species to describe -- very precisely -- the eye colour of everyone they know.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:21 (twenty years ago)

amateurist is a tit man

j blount (papa la bas), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:30 (twenty years ago)

i'm with amst here, but conversely i could tell you about all the haircuts of all the women i've ever known, so it comes and goes i guess.

it is wierd tho, i can picture the faces of old girlfriends as specifically as i can and the particular eye color is somehow not there. the lightness or character or movement registers but not that. huh.

f--gg (gcannon), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:33 (twenty years ago)

brown is easy, right? the trouble only comes in when it's a weird line between green and blue and hazel.

Maria (Maria), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:35 (twenty years ago)

I'm blue eyed Kate! ;P

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:37 (twenty years ago)

I can, easily. But maybe it's because all of them have been brown-eyed.

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:45 (twenty years ago)

Well you've ruined my theory Trayce. Are you happy now?!! :)

kate/papa november (papa november), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:59 (twenty years ago)

Heheh.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 21 February 2005 03:00 (twenty years ago)

same

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 21 February 2005 03:24 (twenty years ago)

i'm a girl and i've often noticed the same thing, and been sometimes disturbed about it. i have no idea, brown, blue or green, couldn't tell you.

scout (scout), Monday, 21 February 2005 05:02 (twenty years ago)

I've noticed that every time I don't remember the color, it's because they have hazel eyes.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Monday, 21 February 2005 05:03 (twenty years ago)

I've got piercing hazel eyes...

Aaron A., Monday, 21 February 2005 05:17 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I could tell you my own eye colour

A Viking of Some Note (Andrew Thames), Monday, 21 February 2005 05:19 (twenty years ago)

Hazel IS NOT A COLOUR, eyes. Sort yrselves out, blue/green/SOMETHING Ok?

A Viking of Some Note (Andrew Thames), Monday, 21 February 2005 05:21 (twenty years ago)

I've also only dated brown-eyed people.

My own eyes are hard to describe - grey round the edges, blue in the middle and green near the pupil.

caitlin (caitlin), Monday, 21 February 2005 07:40 (twenty years ago)

A girl I knew back in primary school had eyes which looked like cat's eyes. It was a bit freaky.

C J (C J), Monday, 21 February 2005 09:19 (twenty years ago)

My eyes are brown.

Un investigador del siglo XXI (AaronHz), Monday, 21 February 2005 09:45 (twenty years ago)

I only tend to remember the green eyed people. But that's because I only tend to date green eyed boys. Something about Rimbaud, I guess...

Kate Kept Me Alive! (kate), Monday, 21 February 2005 10:48 (twenty years ago)

I've been told I have hazel eyes but I'm colourblind so I don't really know what that means. And as I'm colourblind, I have to look pretty carefully to see other people's eye colour unless they're bright blue. Having said that, I could tell you the eye colour of everyone I've gone out with.

beanz (beanz), Monday, 21 February 2005 10:56 (twenty years ago)

I'm exactly the same. I am acutely aware of the shape, brightness, size, symmetry etc. of eyse, and they're one of the most important facial features for me, but colour - nope. Just doesn't sink in. Maybe because my eyes are so muddy it's actually impossible to assign a colour to them (they vary between sludge green and overcast blue with a dominant grey background, ugh).

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 21 February 2005 11:08 (twenty years ago)

Heh weird, I'm a bit like this. Like beanz though, I am also colour blind so there's your excuse. Eyes are a big thing for me, but more the effect they have on me rather than the colour. Hair and mouth are important too.

Crackity (Crackity Jones), Monday, 21 February 2005 11:38 (twenty years ago)

mantlepiece. fire.

Sven Bastard (blueski), Monday, 21 February 2005 12:01 (twenty years ago)

Your eyes sound exactly like mine, Caitlin! How exciting!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 21 February 2005 13:59 (twenty years ago)

is there a neuroscientific answer to this 'problem'? i suspect such an answer would be quite fascinating. why do we have an ability to remember certain physical characteristics and not others?

i mostly feel bad about this when i get some kind of romantic comment about my own eyes, when i'm inclined to just slap their ass (affectionately).

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Monday, 21 February 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

MindinRewind otm.
try not to take it personally.

00ps, Monday, 21 February 2005 21:15 (twenty years ago)

Brown eyed for the most part, including my most recent gf, who had brown eyes but was always complaining that her previous bf described her eyes as being "the colour of dirty dishwater".

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:17 (twenty years ago)

There was this girl that worked at the Baskin-Robbins by my house when I was a teenager that I had a huge like sighing to myself involuntarily when her name was mentioned crush on who had YELLOW eyes, I swear to jebus. If you asked her though, she said they were "bright brown". Whatever SHE-WOLF.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:18 (twenty years ago)

I hate that this is the popular measure of "paying attention"/not being superficial, as I also don't really register eye color. Bluish-greenish-hazelish all runs together.

Full-disclosure: I am also somewhat color-blind (you'd think this would be a valid excuse, but no).

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:23 (twenty years ago)

The color-blindness excuse never works for me either! The only way I'll remember a girl's eye color is after she makes a big deal out of me not knowing it.
Funny thing is, I do tend to focus (har har) on a girl's eyes more than any other facial feature. What color they are doesn't matter, though. Beautiful eyes come in all shades.

00000ps, Monday, 21 February 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

It seems like an overwhelming majority of the women I've ever cared about in a romantic way have them kinda eyes that change color depending on the lighting. The one I would call The One That Got Away's eyes, I remember very clearly being bright turquoisey green in the light that would shine through her window in the mornings, whereas they were way darker silvery/grey/blue when I would look over at her while sitting at traffic lights at night.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:31 (twenty years ago)

Apparently my eye color is hard to determine. They are hazel, I guess. Mostly green with bits of brown and yellow in the middle. My dad has awesome hazel eyes that are mostly blue with brown and yellow bits in the middle.

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:48 (twenty years ago)

I only remember blue eyes, and of those only two, because they also had (have) blonde curly hair and look a bit alike. I may have had blue-eyed girlfriends other than these two, but I don't remember, and anyway who cares. What are they gonna do, call me up and bitch me out? "You don't even know what color my eyes are! And you never buy me flowers!" Bitch, we broke up nine years ago.

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

I could, however, probably describe in detail the exact hue of every nipple I've ever seen in person.

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:51 (twenty years ago)

Seen any bright red ones?

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:52 (twenty years ago)

Hm... not like candy apple color, no. Nothing with an enamel finish. But some nice deep scarlets, sure, some deep velvety colors.

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:54 (twenty years ago)

I dated a GUY once who made a big deal about his eyes being "swampy." DUDE YUOR EYES ARE FUCKING HAZEL, GETOVER IT.

PS: Yes he was a total douche.

sugarpants (sugarpants), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:57 (twenty years ago)

Btw the fact that my girlfriend sometimes wears colored contacts does NOT HELP.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:58 (twenty years ago)

only in flash photos, Mandee!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:59 (twenty years ago)

I always remember eye-color, even going back to my first truth-or-dare kiss.

The Obligatory Sourpuss (Begs2Differ), Monday, 21 February 2005 22:02 (twenty years ago)

The Obligatory Sourpuss (Begs2Differ), Monday, 21 February 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

I choose to blame not myself, but the internets.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 21 February 2005 22:41 (twenty years ago)

I dated a guy once who said I had "dope eyes." He was a real treat!

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Thursday, 7 April 2005 22:00 (twenty years ago)

very dark brown/almost black, blue, brown, brown, blue, hazel, brown, green, so light blue they were like yellow-blue, brown

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 7 April 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

There's always a connection for me between the eye color of a person I'm attracted to and the sound of his voice -- hazel-green, pale grey, dark brown, very light blue, and very dark blue being the most memorable right now. It's as if I perceive the two things (voice and eye color) as matching in some indefinable way, like complementary aspects of a single quality that I'm drawn to. AM I AN AESTHETE OR WHAT.

mnra, Thursday, 7 April 2005 22:56 (twenty years ago)

I could tell you in detail the eye color of every woman I've ever gone with for more than a week, if I can remember them at all, that is.
