So, we have Edith Bowman, Al Murray, Ade Edmondson, umm two girly reps from the soaps (as per mandatory!) and who else?

So who will sing like a bird? like a horse? and seeing ass how Will thingy didn't exactly set the charts alight last time, who cares?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 22 February 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

Wasn't Al Murray on that Gordon Ramsay thingy last year? Is he turning into some kind of celeb-reality ho'?

lock robster (robster), Tuesday, 22 February 2005 10:21 (twenty years ago)

This show will be watched by oxymorons.

Some celebrities, recently.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 22 February 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

Gina Yashere is on it = this will be shit. She is the least funny person ever to be labelled a comedienne ever in the history of anything. Ever. It will really piss me off if she can sing, but I imagine she will just cackle horridly.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 22 February 2005 20:50 (twenty years ago)

*not that I watched the last one or anything, or will watch this one, oh, no, not me*

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 22 February 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

Right. Edith was the best one I think. Bloke with the deep voice. Hmm, apart from that....

mark grout (mark grout), Saturday, 26 February 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

I missed it. According to every tabloid in the world, Sam off EastEnders will win. Was she any good, or is just because she's the good girl in the "Who killed Den?" storyline and has the public on her side?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 27 February 2005 09:16 (twenty years ago)

Umm, won't the 'best singer' win? Love for Corrie/Eastenders overimagined? Ay? What?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 11:27 (twenty years ago)

Sam off EastEnders was not very good last night. Only ones who seem like they can sing were Debra Stephenson and Edith Bowman, who looks petrified but can at least hold a tune. I "pride" myself on my knowledge of Z list celebs, but have no idea who Reggie is. Maybe I should start reading Heat again.

My 73 year old dad and two of my 30-something friends all fancy Dawn Steele. Maybe she has the cross-generational appeal that is required to win shit like this. Worth a bet? (if she stops singing Alanis Morrissette songs?)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 20:07 (twenty years ago)

OK, I know who Reggie is now. They made him sing You Can't Touch This. Reggie Time! Dude!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

I guess I'm the only person watching this then. I have a sad fixation with watching d-list celebs doing something they aren't cut out for. Little tonight will match last night's wondrous moment of Ade Edmonson covering Turning Japanese though.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:15 (twenty years ago)

I'm also finding a new respect for Nick Knowles. Which seems a bit wrong.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:24 (twenty years ago)

My hatred for Gina Yashere has not been tempered by this show at all. I think I want Edith Bowman to win, on talent, and Ade Edmondson on the grounds of being great on more levels than I can explain. If you can discount his hideously botoxed wife.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 22:09 (twenty years ago)

Bah, Culshaw was a bit crap, but he's not Gina Yashere..

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

She's going to be the Ruby Wax of this year's Celebrity Fame Academy, but with less likeability. Who the fuck actually likes her? Does she have some redeemable quality I am missing?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

Oh, this prog has unjumped the shark, by the way...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 10 March 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

I'be been enjoying this. Serious beef between headmaster and Kielty it seems. Apparently Park confronted Nick Knowles after one show and said "how dare you question my authority?!". Knob. Edith or Ade to win, though Kim was better than Delta Goodrem last night. Ohg, and the public should put Reggie out of his misery. Zoom! Bless.

Crackity (Crackity Jones), Thursday, 10 March 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

I'm still staggered that Reggie remains in, when Dawn and Debra have gone. I guess Reggie and Edith have a bigger fan base amongst teh kids who are most likely to be voting. Yer average Monarch of the Glen/Coronation Street fan = my mum = person not watching Celebrity Fame Academy. I'm not sure on what grounds people are voting for Ade, but he is the business and I want him to win.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 10 March 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

Reggie is hurting my ears :(

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 10 March 2005 20:14 (twenty years ago)

Their version of "It Takes Two" was the reediest fucking thing in history.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 10 March 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

Kim and Ade's "You're The One That I Want" was worse than Arthur Mullard and Hilda Baker's. And that is saying something.

Edith to win now, I think. Obv it should be Ade, but he'll come second.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 10 March 2005 20:47 (twenty years ago)

Debra and Dawn went too soon. Gina was lovely (singing aside), Kim has been pretty nice, Nick Knowles was suprisingly charismatic during the Rat Pack performance and Ade is still so cool, if endearingly crap. Edith has been a real suprise, and I love Colin Murray's overenthusiastic clapping whenever the camera cuts to him.

BARMS, Friday, 11 March 2005 11:55 (twenty years ago)

it should not be ade.

I like edith.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 11 March 2005 11:56 (twenty years ago)

Oh, I don't think Ade's a good singer by any stretch of the imagination. He just comes across as a very nice guy. Singing-wise I want Edith to win. I get the feeling Kim knows she's good, whereas Edith has surprised herself.

BARMS OTM about Colin Murray. He just seems so genuinely thrilled for her. And it's funny.

I really do quite like Nick Knowles based on this week.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 12:01 (twenty years ago)

Kim's faux-modest grimaces whenever she gets prasied are really starting to get to me. Edith to win!

Anna (Anna), Friday, 11 March 2005 13:41 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, Edith, I like her too. She's completely natural and you get the impression there's no front to her. I think she would be the most surprised to win which would be good to see. For all Kim finds it difficult to accept praise you can see she's taking it really seriously and probably thinks she will win inside.

mms (mms), Friday, 11 March 2005 13:49 (twenty years ago)

I also really like Edith's accent. (I never listen to her on the radio). Basically, I don't want Kim to win, as she's a bit of a grown-up stage school brat.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 13:53 (twenty years ago)

Edith pisses me off - she looks like a right wee hard man. Who's still in? I've lost track. Adrian is trying painfully hard to be funny, I can't watch him. Gina was nice, looked like a drag queen though in some of those outfits.

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Friday, 11 March 2005 13:59 (twenty years ago)

Ade, Kim and Edith, final on tonight.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 14:02 (twenty years ago)

Odds from Blue Square

Kim Medcalf 4/9
Edith Bowman 5/2
Adrian Edmondson 6/1

(oh, and Martin O'Neill is 5/1 for the Man City job ailsa, behind Wee Gogs, Psycho and BouncebackaDowie)

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 11 March 2005 14:08 (twenty years ago)

I care not if Martin O'Neill wants to go, as long as he takes Alan Thompson, Didier Agathe, Juninho and all of our goalkeepers with him.

PEOPLE! DON'T VOTE FOR KIM!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 14:11 (twenty years ago)

I intend on watching an episode in full tonight. I do want to take Kim over Edith because I've actually suffered through Edith's telly and radio stuff. But her humility (or is it just the illness?) in CFA is what has touched me a little.

There's something of a conundrum in fancying Dawn, I must say.

BARMS, Friday, 11 March 2005 14:13 (twenty years ago)

I did not realise it was Ade.

I like Edith best. I like her on the radio too.

I might watch the final.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 11 March 2005 14:15 (twenty years ago)

Perhaps Ade will sneak through, as he is the spirit of Comic Relief. Or something like that.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

So, judging by how last night went, Kim had the top total.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 11 March 2005 14:24 (twenty years ago)

..phonne-in vote wise, I mean.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 11 March 2005 14:24 (twenty years ago)

Yes, but it is on just after EastEnders (I still maintain this is why she is winning, not because she is any better than Edith).

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

I couldn't quite discern the pecking order between Kim, Dawn and Debs, tho'. I'm fairly sure Kim was better than Dawn at least.

BARMS, Friday, 11 March 2005 14:54 (twenty years ago)

Start of the final on now - Edith very quiet but very good version of Bridge of Troubled Water. Ade has just pulled his trousers down. Kim up next. She's wearing something truly hideous.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

And is stage-show smugging her way through "Something".

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:41 (twenty years ago)

Final! Edith sings rubbish version of Champagne Supernova. Judges go crazy about how good she is. She isn't. I still want her to win though.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 21:52 (twenty years ago)

Whereas Kim goes for the full-on granny-friendly lighter-waving Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Good move. She's singing it brilliantly as well.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

yay! Edith wins! Kim's teeth are so gritted!!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 11 March 2005 22:51 (twenty years ago)

Darn I missed the final winner announcement. Hope it gets repeated somewhere.

mark grout (mark grout), Saturday, 12 March 2005 11:39 (twenty years ago)

Like the BBC website, you mean?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 12 March 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

Haha Kim thought she was a dead cert, obviously. Edith was rubbish but for comedy value, this was great.
