I just looked at the perverts on my street...

There's three perverts on my street, all of which have sexually abused children under the age of 14. The website doesn't have their names, but shows the address and a photo as well as description of their crimes. My street's not very long, either!

This site is only for California, but I believe there's an equivalent in all 50 states. Take a look!

The apartment complex next to mine appears to be a haven of trouble.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 February 2005 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

It does show the names, andy, on the top of the pop-up box.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 25 February 2005 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm kind of a pervert but never been caught! Think how many me's there could be.

Aaorn A., Friday, 25 February 2005 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Bay Area people will know about the recent story of the offender that was parolled and chemically castrated and now no town wants him, he keeps getting shoved around and people picket outside of his house.

I don't have children but I understand the fear of parents... it just seems totally hysterical in nature. The guy that they kicked out of Oakland had committed his crimes as an adolescent, and is now a grown adult.

andy --, Friday, 25 February 2005 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

this makes me phyiscally ill.

Yeah, I saw this on the news. According to this website, Berkeley has it's fair share of offenders, 16 in my zip code.

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 February 2005 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Adam lives in Perverkeley.

andy --, Friday, 25 February 2005 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

When this first debuted on the internet a couple years ago, this guy (who is still listed at living at 1732 page st.) was essentially run out of town due to his constant harassing/vandalism to his building/spray painted taunts:

Adam, who was that one Berkeley perv that tried to buy a child? He was a winner.

andy --, Friday, 25 February 2005 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

he was the guy who abducted steven stayner, he still lives in berkeley. I can't find him right now on the database but we posted his address in the yosemite thread.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 25 February 2005 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i am relieved to find that half the people in my area that seemed like sex offenders appear to just be weird, and not actual felons.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 25 February 2005 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I think one of these guys does his laundry at the same place as me.

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 February 2005 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Every offender in my area lives in a trailer park, save the lone woman, who lives 2 streets from me and looks like a teacher.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 25 February 2005 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Anthony OTM. Making this kind of database public is cruel and unusual punishment.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 25 February 2005 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree. If they're that much of a danger why don't they just hand out longer prison sentences?

They might as well tar and feather them while they're at it.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 25 February 2005 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

man this is creepy. I wonder if, in my case, ignorance is bliss. On the other hand, a woman was just found murdered outside the home of one of my bandmates, and the case seems to be related to a string of similar rapes/murders committed by some local nutjob with a thing for bludgeoning prostitues. Needless to say, she's super freaked out and now is afraid to walk home alone, is considering moving, etc. As my wife pointed out "she's good with a knife, but she's very small."

Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 25 February 2005 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait a minnit -- it's a crime to annoy children? To ANNOY them?! This has gone too far!

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Friday, 25 February 2005 18:59 (twenty-one years ago)

'...Making this kind of database public is cruel and unusual punishment...'

I agree on some level, but the campaign to impelement these databases was so massive, and I don't think anybody wanted to come out on the side of molestors.. it was a pretty unanimous thing.

Another thing, though: A lot of people on the California offender list committed consensual adult acts (usually homosexual) before the sodomy laws were repealed in '76. Therefore, a sailor that got picked up blowing somebody in a car in the 50's would forever be branded a sex offender and would appear on that database. There was talk of granting an amnesty but I don't think it's happened yet.

andy --, Friday, 25 February 2005 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

My street is pervert clean.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 25 February 2005 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Well convicted pervert clean that is.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 25 February 2005 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

"We, the people of the State of California do hereby pardon you for your acts of sodomy committed with other consenting adults." I'd love to get one of those cetificates. I'd frame it and put it right near the front door.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 25 February 2005 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

two doors down from me lives a guy who committed a forcible rape, and about half a mile down there's a 69yr old woman who committed lewd acts on children under 14! that's about it though.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Friday, 25 February 2005 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Rambunctious for a 69yr old!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 25 February 2005 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

As our current governor participated in some Venice Beach "gang bangs" (according to a mid-70's Oui interview), he might be the one to draft that pardon.

andy --, Friday, 25 February 2005 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

There are enough perverts in my zip code (which is about 12 square blocks) to fill another city.

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Friday, 25 February 2005 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

It disgusts me too. Either they're a danger to children or whoever and should be kept away from the chance to do harm, or they have served their sentences and are free people. Saying 'this person was convicted and served their time, but we are publicising their names and locations so they can be persecuted some more just in case' is appalling.

Remember this naughty teacher from last year? Ah, if only SHE was the offender on my street...

andy --, Friday, 25 February 2005 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait a minnit -- it's a crime to annoy children? To ANNOY them?! This has gone too far!

That's probably the law's way of accusing the defendant of approaching the child with lewd intent, even if nothing actually happened.

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 25 February 2005 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

(That said, I would support a law to crack down on children who annoy adults. Although most of the annoying kids within earshot probably live on the Russian Embassy grounds, and therefore would be immune.)

Two more females teacher accused of sex with students! Based on my informal research, it appears that WOMEN are the real sexual predators in our society! It's like a Van Halen video.

Hottest scandal ever.
