This is the real deal: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/

You're now allowed one free credit report a year, so you choose one of the credit reporting agencies. Experian seems to be the fastest, they gave me the info online, immediately.

I bought into the new terror and figured some Nigerians were buying jetski's in my name. But, alas, there's nothing at all: no negative, no "accounts in good standing," I'm just off the books, though it did show when I (unsuccessfully) applied for a motorcycle loan a couple years ago.

You can get abridged free credit reports every three months by reporting identity theft.

"The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."

Given that this message is in English and my system is set up to show such messages in English, this looks kinda dubious.

...in German, duh.

It's legit. I've used it before last year, worked like a charm.

Seems to work fine. Is it true that asking for a credit report can adversly affect your credit score?

Yes.

When I tried to get mine a while back, it basically said "There's a problem, you'll need to give us more info, here's a form." They won't admit if they don't have you on their records; they try to make it fairly difficult for you to get your records; and they are certainly using this to get information on more people. Ah well.

Doesn't work from Australia. Maybe its blocked to outsiders. Like the mil.gov domainspace is to us?
