RFI: minor repairs to v.ancient macs for not much money (in london)

ILE massive, my VERY old laptop (powerbook 145B!!) is playing up more and more

the main problem is the switch-on switch, which is just worn down so much that you really have to squeeze it before it works, and eventually (probably quite soon) i won't be able to squeeze hard enough

also i think the floppy port (!!) has something wrong w.it as it rejects floppies which are still fine on other computers

i used always to go to a place called MICROMEND off holloway road but his phone number seems to be unobtainable

if worst comesto worst i will have to rescue the material on the disc, so cheap outlets for this service also helpful!!

thank you

Not sure what type of hard disk it is but the easiest way to rescue stuff from the disk is to get a fire wire or usb disk enclosure and plug it into your other mac.

but surely it can't find it if i can't turn it on!!

(also i don't think there's any firewire or usb-type ports on the laptop --- it's VERY old)

I'm talking about deconstructing the laptop, to get at the hard drive, this can then be put in the caddy and attached to the other mac.

haha ed this is me yr talkin to!!

or to rephrase my question slightly: decontructing v.ancient macs for not much money (in london), then putting the hard drive in the caddy and attaching it to the other mac

(basically i am looking for a cheap mac repair'n'fiddling place)
