Well, at least I'm not alone.

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Sunday, 6 March 2005 00:54 (twenty years ago)

this thread is quite limited to a certain group of people who know what "intentional torts" are.

cutty (mcutt), Sunday, 6 March 2005 00:59 (twenty years ago)

gabbneb, you got a job for me for the summer?

cutty (mcutt), Sunday, 6 March 2005 01:01 (twenty years ago)

hm... lemme take a stab at a definition based on what I understand. It's law that deals with injury, but not financial injury, right?

Or even better: injury that has nothing to do with breach of contract or business arrangement.

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Sunday, 6 March 2005 01:02 (twenty years ago)

no, mine is financial sort of.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 6 March 2005 01:05 (twenty years ago)

well kenan, that would include negligence as well, but that's not an intentional tort.

intentional torts are any civil liability for something someone has done intentionally (as opposed to negligently) where a harm has occured that warrants damages.

cutty (mcutt), Sunday, 6 March 2005 01:09 (twenty years ago)

see, they never make these distinctions on Law and Order.

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Sunday, 6 March 2005 01:13 (twenty years ago)

also, breach of contract could be a tort if there were elements of fraud, collusion, misrepresentation, etc.

cutty (mcutt), Sunday, 6 March 2005 01:15 (twenty years ago)

Um... I guess they don't do civil lawsuits on Law and Order. Hence my lack of familiarity with torts. I must watch more David E. Kelley television.

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Sunday, 6 March 2005 01:15 (twenty years ago)

"boston legal" is all civil, i believe?

cutty (mcutt), Sunday, 6 March 2005 01:17 (twenty years ago)
