No Machine Gun Fellatio? HOW WILL WE COPE.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 22:36 (twenty years ago)

Should I go to this???

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 22:37 (twenty years ago)

Only the mongrels can tell us.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 22:38 (twenty years ago)

actually i'm guessing only jim can tell us

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 22:51 (twenty years ago)

i don't like Little Birdy. i'd probably think the Morning After Girls were good if i was oblivious to their antics and history. i know nothing about the rest of 'em really

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 23:00 (twenty years ago)

I liked that one Morning After Girls song I heard on the radio recently. I'm still a bit on the fence about Little Birdy. I've never heard of the others!

I cannot comment.

moley (moley), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 00:44 (twenty years ago)

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 00:45 (twenty years ago)

i'll go if you go col.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 00:46 (twenty years ago)

i'll come for the cost of airfare and a packet of crisps

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 00:46 (twenty years ago)

What do these bands sound like? Mongrels, what say you?!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 00:47 (twenty years ago)

wild guess: indie.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 01:05 (twenty years ago)

the panda band are from perth!!! i got their sleepy little death toll town ep last week, it's pretty damn good actually. although i think they are better live. and yes they are indie.

little birdy are from perth too but i don't like them so much. they do have some catchy tunes though. the lead singer katy steele is luke steele's (of the sleepy jackson) sister. they are very different from the sleepy jackson.

The three of these bands I've heard are v. boring. But Cut/Copy and Wolfmother (and, unfortionately Bumblebeez 81) are playing in NYC on Saturday!!

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 02:05 (twenty years ago)

it's hard not to believe wolfmother aren't an elaborate (or perhaps not elaborate enough) joke

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 02:08 (twenty years ago)

I cannot comment.

moley (moley), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 02:51 (twenty years ago)

i love cut copy, bright like neon love came near the top of my fave cds last year

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 02:53 (twenty years ago)

moley (moley), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 02:56 (twenty years ago)

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 02:56 (twenty years ago)

But Cut/Copy and Wolfmother (and, unfortionately Bumblebeez 81) are playing in NYC on Saturday!!

i was thinking about going, only because its a few blocks from my house and its free.

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 03:08 (twenty years ago)

No phil, it's not free as such; rather, it's going to set you free.

moley (moley), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 03:22 (twenty years ago)

charleston charge (chaki), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 03:27 (twenty years ago)

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 03:29 (twenty years ago)

i think the panda band have some potential, but wasn't totally convinced by them live, the songs just aren't that strong yet.

Mil (Mil), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 03:41 (twenty years ago)

yeah you are probably right mil. also i don't think they've released their strongest songs on this ep. apart from the single though, which i am still loving.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 03:43 (twenty years ago)

i normally hate all the bands from the perth indie scene, but i wouldn't actually mind hearing the panda band ep. they at least seem to have some ambition in 'em.

Mil (Mil), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 04:13 (twenty years ago)

i heard them play live on rtr a couple of times shortly before i bought the ep, and i thought it would be all the same tracks, but it wasn't. i am liking the ep though, and looking forward to an album release, i definitely think they have potential too. i wouldn't say i hate all the bands from our indie scene, there are heaps that i really like. there also some i dislike strongly though. but that's the same with any music scene i guess.

moley (moley), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 05:57 (twenty years ago)

that thing has some cool songs on it! that is the only starky song i like actually

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 07:43 (twenty years ago)

Wolfmother can be divertingly entertaining live for forty minutes if you're going to be there anyway. They are, though, an exact genetic splice of half Sabbath DNA, half Zeppelin.

kit brash (kit brash), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 11:48 (twenty years ago)

Kit, see london dancing thread for mine and Steve's Cut Copy (and Wolfmother) appraisals. Cause we all left early, I've no idea if Bumblebeez even showed up.

Good call on Wolfie, apart from the 'entertaining' bit - they were kinda average and that kind of genetic splice should be a lot better than they were (see Cornelius - 69/96).

BARMS, Wednesday, 9 March 2005 13:08 (twenty years ago)

i don't like wolfmother. they kinda bore me.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 15:30 (twenty years ago)

ha ha Barms, I can see that pale gingish feller inspiring a few months of squirmy posts about Australia being the new mecca for finally sorting one's emotional life out, interspersed with lots of sallow photos. "So as I left, I said to The Antipodean..."

kit brash (kit brash), Thursday, 10 March 2005 13:10 (twenty years ago)

c0lin b3ck3tt, are you still going on saturday? if you're not already on the guestlist, let me know
