7.36pm in Queensland

kate/thank you friendly cloud (papa november), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 09:36 (twenty years ago)

I love how Queensland refuses to use daylight saving. "TAKE THAT, SCUMSUCKING SOUTHERNERS!".

edward o (edwardo), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:05 (twenty years ago)

Queensland is stoopid.

kate/thank you friendly cloud (papa november), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:11 (twenty years ago)

I used to think so, but now I live in NSW, I appreciate it. I like to move under cover of darkness, which is now only possible in the mornings.

edward o (edwardo), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)

On the other hand, I like to be out til 9pm and maintain some deluded sense of safety.

kate/thank you friendly cloud (papa november), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:14 (twenty years ago)

You're in a fairly safe area, though? (I may be misremembering, but I thought you were around Mitchie)

edward o (edwardo), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:14 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I am but when I go out I don't hang around in this sleepy suburb :)

kate/thank you friendly cloud (papa november), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:16 (twenty years ago)

You're calling the suburb sleepy and you're only out til 9? Hee. I only remember because I used to catch preposterous buses from right near where you are.

edward o (edwardo), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:18 (twenty years ago)

Hey, shut up! :)

kate/thank you friendly cloud (papa november), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:18 (twenty years ago)

Actually, I know why I hated daylight saving. I lived right across the road from the school I taught at in Canberra. If I wanted to go anywhere, I risked running into students, so I only liked to go out under cover of dark, which was like 8 o'clock. And I longed for it getting dark early back "home" in Brisbane. (I lived in Arana Hills, which is even sleepier)

edward o (edwardo), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:19 (twenty years ago)

Hey, at least you escaped right?

kate/thank you friendly cloud (papa november), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:20 (twenty years ago)

Bigger cage, longer chain, but more or less. But it's 9:20! I want it to be 8:20!

edward o (edwardo), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:21 (twenty years ago)

The cage I'm in feels mighty restrictive right about now.

kate/thank you friendly cloud (papa november), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:22 (twenty years ago)

At first it's constrictive. But after a while, it really becomes a part of you.

BARMS, Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:41 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to leave before that happens.

kate/thank you friendly cloud (papa november), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 10:43 (twenty years ago)

What's up with central Australia being off a half hour? A country as big as the USA (roughly), and there's only three time zones.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

I dunno.

It's currently 8.30am!

moley, Wednesday, 9 March 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

arent there 4? eastern, central, mountain, pacific?

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

It's 7.32am where I am.

kate/thank you friendly cloud (papa november), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 21:32 (twenty years ago)

Don't get me wrong. I love Australia. I'm married to an Australian, but..

http://www.white-eagle-inc.com/australia/image/map-time.gif

Those are some fucked-up time zones.

What Time Is It In Australia?

Wait! I've got it written down on a piece of paper.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 21:45 (twenty years ago)

its an old joke but maybe youse overseas haven't heard it - queensland refused daylight saving because they were worried the extra hour of daylight would fade the washing on the line.
