I got roped into DJing on Friday.... Feel free to make any requests or bring vinyl and CDs. I'm thinking of spinning mostly post-punk and shoegaze but can be persuaded to play other stuff instead. I'm awesome like that.

The guy who booked it said I'd prolly be doing a couple 1.5 hour sets since they have an upstairs and a downstairs.... Not sure when yet but I can text you.

I think my only restriction is that when I'm upstairs it can't be loud and noisy, and that I'll have two 1.5 hour sets.... So if you guys want to help out that would be welcome! We could uh "tagteam" (is that what the kids call it?).

Aw it sucks I missed this! I worked late yesterday, came home, fell promptly to sleep.. and woke up at 1am! Yikes.

I did see a few dancers, actually. The highlight was getting tipped $5 from some dude who wanted to hear electronic (aka Oakenfold). So I put on Rex the Dog into Matthew Dear with the most HORRIBLE mix ever. It made Phil cringe!

Later this guy came up to me and asked about 10 bands and musicians I literally had never heard of. It went something like this.

Dude: "Do you have blahblahblah?"
Me: "Uh, no"
Dude: "Do you have blahblahblah?"
Me: "Uh, no"
Dude: "Do you have blahblahblah?"
Me: "Uh, no"
Dude: "What kind of music are you playing?"
Me: "Uh, I guess British pop at the moment"
Dude: "Do you have Morcheeba?"
Me: "Uh, no, but you're getting a little bit closer."
Dude: "Do you have any Coldplay?"
Me: "Uh, no"

i think my nose is still wrinkled from that! but anyhow i had fun. somehow i ended up staying way longer than i was planning. that group of people next to us were super interested in talking to me for some reason. i thought that dude was hitting o me because he kept looking at me and then trying to start conversations and then he introduced me to his wife. wtf. not that i was interested, but wtf. but one of his banker friends gave me his card and he wants me to be his personal stylist/shopper. haha. btw i still want to meet your dorky/neurotic/jewish/lawschool/friend.

After you left they talked to Cathy the entire night. I felt kind of bad for her and kept trying to get her attention so she'd come over to the booth. I think that dude just thought you were cool and wanted some of your coolness all to himself.
