I recently accepted a job offer. The job doesn't start until March 21st. This means I have not only free time, but I don't have to look for a job during that free time, actually making it FREE TIME. Which means I can roam around and have a little fun before the grind begins again.

And since I haven't been in SF for a while, I was thinking of looking for a cheap flight down during the week.

Now, i have no idea how long I would be there. I'll be looking into options tomorrow. But it would be no earlier than Sunday the 13th. (I'm seeing Slint the night before in Seattle) and I'd probably want a few days to spend in Seattle and a weekend before I got back to work.. also flights out on Wednesday or Thursday are much cheaper than Friday or Saturday flights.

I'm more likely to be free to FAP on Tuesday or Wednesday than Sunday or Monday... although I might be free Sunday afternoon or early evening, if I can get a flight out early enough that day.

Then again, I'm not sure if you guys are free and/or want to have me FAP with you guys. If not, it's totally cool :) I can probably just hang by myself.

I know I'm being horribly vague now with the actual dates.. will be more detailed later.

i'm probably gonna have to dj some gig in LA, but i'll call you and let you know some fun things to do...

The JaXoN 5 (JasonD), Thursday, 10 March 2005 06:50 (twenty years ago)

Heh heh.. I do feel bad for the sorry timing on my part during the holiday season visit you made up here. You had called me for a drink after I made a long journey, and my legs were functionless by then.

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 10 March 2005 07:00 (twenty years ago)

You must have posted this at a very odd time for me to miss it. I'll be around. No plans, I don't think. Tuesdays are not good for me because I have class in the evenings.

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 16:22 (twenty years ago)

Actually, Wednesday would be good.

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 16:24 (twenty years ago)

Ya lucky bum, donut.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 16:24 (twenty years ago)

Yes he is. We have beautiful weather today too. And KYLE will be rocking the Mission this evening with his rocking jams.

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

But yeah, mr bitch should come to MIA.

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

Jeffy is "opening" for MIA.

Donut, come say Hi, I might be in NYC around then (NoFunFest2/Slint/Engagement Plans) but I should be around mid-weekish.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 10 March 2005 18:04 (twenty years ago)

I know DJs

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:09 (twenty years ago)

I worked for Don Johnson once. He was sometimes called DJ.

Wednesday FAP?

Remy (null) (x Jeremy), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

Wednesday

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

hmmm.. seems like the best deals I'm finding are using the flight+hotel option on either travelocity or expedia...

Guys, how's The Mosser hotel, off Market and 4th st.? They do mention a lot of rooms sharing a bathroom, and I'd rather not.. but still, the overall package price isn't bad.

I do know friends here in Seattle who know people in SF who run small lodgings who could get me a great deal in certain neighborhoods (apparently a really good deal in the Castro.. $40 or less a night, and apparently "not in a bathhouse/crystal meth palace, either".... um... ookay), but the flight only prices are costing just as much as the flight+hotel package prices.. Hmmm.. will ponder more.

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:44 (twenty years ago)

here is where I recommend the functional and clean Grant Plaza hotel. $55 a night if you don't mind being in Chinatown.

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:45 (twenty years ago)

is there a reason I should mind being in Chinatown? (I know it was kinda notorious in the 70s, but that's a long time ago now)

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:49 (twenty years ago)

I once had sex with a girl on a fire escape in Chinatown. I was on the bottom, and the non-slip iron grating cut into my ass. To this day I have a little fear that a waffle-pattern remains branded into my left cheek.

Remy (null) (x Jeremy), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:51 (twenty years ago)

chinatown's fine, if a bit crowded and stinky.

4th and market (the mosser?) is a good neighborhood. you're pretty much a block away from union square. right next to the old navy and virgin megastore. i used to live 3blocks from there. dunno what the hotel is like, but it's not like you'll be spending lots of time besides sleeping there, right?

The JaXoN 5 (JasonD), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:52 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I was wondering what that was.

No, there's nothing wrong with being in Chinatown. Actually, it's great! I just wondered if you were looking to stay in a specific neighborhood.

xp

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:53 (twenty years ago)

Grant Plaza is actually just inside the Chinatown Gate, so not too stinky.

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:54 (twenty years ago)

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B000063KMQ.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

the chinatown gate borders union square which is about as clean and sanitary as SF gets (which i guess doubles as a neighborhood recommendation for adam!).

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:57 (twenty years ago)

oh that's rich

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:57 (twenty years ago)

VERY rich

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:58 (twenty years ago)

"sketch factor"

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:58 (twenty years ago)

ADAMRL: GETS GRITTY!!!

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:58 (twenty years ago)

You coined "sketch factor", mate.

It's almost as if you're making a formal request that I bring the pain.

Are you asking me to bring the pain?

Don't make me bring the pain.

Senior Executive/CEO (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 21:06 (twenty years ago)

Adam in Travis Bickle mode is so cute.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 10 March 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

I was on the fence about going to see MIA but if it's turning into a donut fap I'm certainly in...

milton parker (Jon L), Thursday, 10 March 2005 21:54 (twenty years ago)

does this mean we are going to the cheesesteak place?

Babaganoush (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

We could. It's only right across the street.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 10 March 2005 21:59 (twenty years ago)

DB can get a seitan sandwich too (which I've never eaten) as I believe he is a veganitarian.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:00 (twenty years ago)

Is Donut a vegetarian, though?

xp!!

Milo Smiley (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

note thought that they grill their seitan on the same grill as the meat, and the fries are cooked in chicken fat, or so the guy who worked there told me. I eat it anyway.

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 10 March 2005 23:54 (twenty years ago)

Chicken fat, ymm!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 10 March 2005 23:55 (twenty years ago)

Donut is indeed a vegetarian so you filthy omnivores need to get it together.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 23:58 (twenty years ago)

Send him to Herbivore.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 11 March 2005 00:00 (twenty years ago)

Isn't there some apparently amazing vegetarian place in Hayes Valley?

Milo Smiley (nordicskilla), Friday, 11 March 2005 00:01 (twenty years ago)

Is there? Where?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 11 March 2005 00:02 (twenty years ago)

well he could just catch the 14 Mission bus heading west and save himself the walk...?

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 16 March 2005 23:33 (twenty years ago)

Oh yeah (I forgot about the withered legs of LA folx._ If you want to take a bus just hop the Mission. Get off at Van Ness and then walk to Valencia and take a left. I am SOOOOO getting a Zeitgeist burger. Yummy.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 23:35 (twenty years ago)

poor DB will be ill from all the carnage. i may be late! save me a burger.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 23:36 (twenty years ago)

We might miss each other, then. Maybe we just aren't to be.

MVP (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 23:37 (twenty years ago)

let's stop talking about the burgers, I can't stand the wait.

MVP (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 23:38 (twenty years ago)

shakey, did you get my email about the Alice Coltrane rekkerd?

The JaXoN 5 (JasonD), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 23:39 (twenty years ago)

What time are you getting off work, Adam?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 23:39 (twenty years ago)

5

MVP (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 23:39 (twenty years ago)

I'll probably get the bus. You guys are getting down around 6:00? Also, the stupid Metreon free WiFi won't let me access ILE through any normal routes, as it contains 'adult content.'

Remy (null) (x Jeremy), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 23:41 (twenty years ago)

I get off work at 5:30-ish. I'll probably drop stuff off at home and then head there (fuck I want a burger NOW haha.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 23:44 (twenty years ago)

heh, if they have veggie options, then it's cool. i'm at rockin' java right now... about to walk east on haight, maybe hit grooves if I had time, then walk south of Valencia from there.

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:02 (twenty years ago)

(I haven't been to Dalva in 5 years at least - the best thing about it was always the back room. terrible DJs tho, and too many bridge-and-tunnelers.)
-- Shakey Mo Collier (audiobo...), March 16th, 2005 11:28 AM

its obvious why gygax doesn't like it, i think
-- just adam (adamr...), March 16th, 2005 10:00 AM. (nordicskilla) (later)

BWAHAHAHA!!! :-D

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:07 (twenty years ago)

Jaymc can speak for the veggie options at Zeitgeist!!

MVP (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:09 (twenty years ago)

JaXoN I answered yr e-mail - thx for the heads up!

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:22 (twenty years ago)

WORD EM UP!

The JaXoN 5 (JasonD), Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:24 (twenty years ago)

WTF is wrong with people on eBay? Doesn't seeing that the ULTRA ULTRA ULTRA rare CD that you've been looking for for ages is popping up time and gain SEALED in MINT condition indicate that perhaps it has been REISSUED and you might want to stop bidding OOP impossibly high amounts on it? $202.50 for a CD that is listing at $12.98 is freakin' insane.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:28 (twenty years ago)

That reminds me, I have so much stuff to list on Ebay.

MVP (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:32 (twenty years ago)

I am jealous of you all but no matter, I don't hate you. Too much. *cries*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:33 (twenty years ago)

which cd is that, now?

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:33 (twenty years ago)

Just Ice's Back to the Old Skool

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:36 (twenty years ago)

the one with the zeitgeist burger that comes free with it.

xp

MVP (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 00:36 (twenty years ago)

Harooooo! Thx, guyz. (I got back to Berkeley and got drunk on Ouzo).

Remy (null) (x Jeremy), Thursday, 17 March 2005 08:05 (twenty years ago)

I remember when I walking home the name of the band of models on Imago! The Baby Animals! Take that alchohol induced brain damage!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:18 (twenty years ago)

I remembered something too w/r/t early Slint mash-ups:

David Holmes - "Don't Die Just Yet" (Good Morning, Mogwai mix) from 1997 or 1998.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:31 (twenty years ago)

I feel bad that the last thing I said to Donut was "you're much shorter than I expected!".

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:32 (twenty years ago)

You're so cruel, Adam.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:33 (twenty years ago)

how short is he?

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:35 (twenty years ago)

not as short as me

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:36 (twenty years ago)

It must have been the sparks (not the river of gin & tonic) which accounts for this morning's crapulence.

M. White, Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:37 (twenty years ago)

And shorter than me and Dan.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:38 (twenty years ago)

What saddens me is that we haven't listened to Bubba SPARXXX and drank Sparks yet. It must be done.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:38 (twenty years ago)

Also "M White" made this woman touch my nipple.

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:39 (twenty years ago)

and then hit me.

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:39 (twenty years ago)

You ignore the other Sparks at your peril. Give in to the danceable stuff, Alex, you know you want to. ;-) (Hey, nick K loved 'em!)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:39 (twenty years ago)

Hahaha that nipple thing was hysterical. That lady was into you Adam!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:40 (twenty years ago)

...i see

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:41 (twenty years ago)

Of course, then she was horrified when she found out you were married so good on her too.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:42 (twenty years ago)

Horrified that she hadn't snagged you first

M. White, Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:43 (twenty years ago)

Wrangler?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 16:45 (twenty years ago)

It's a dream job...

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 17 March 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

Wrangling Adam's nipples?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

Since adam's are not connected to any real mammaries worth speaking of, I'd have to say no.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 17 March 2005 17:30 (twenty years ago)

Adam likes grime, he has nipples = Adam like grimy nipples. Er.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)

This conversation really understates how much fun we had last night.. I now know of Sparks thanks to AlexSF (courtesy of Ol' Milwaukee), a large can of caffeinated Malt Orange Red Bull Liquor which gave me a much needed waking up (but also a slight headache.. I blame Ol' Milwaukee, not you, Alex), and gygax! for the India Pale Ale (that somehow exactly offset both the waking up part and the headache) and the long chat we had afterwards.. and talking with JaXon, Remy, Adam, Michael, and Alex as well. and I'm not all offended by Adam's comment.. I'm offended by your squirming when Michael made me touch your nipple.. that's why I hit you. (I have disguises and can move large distances shiftily. I should have explained.)

Where were U Milton??? did you not know I was the s n u g g 1 3 z list guy back in the day? Ok, well I now understand if you meant to keep your distance, in that case. rAWFLE! Missed Drew too, but surely he was busy with something, and i plan to attend the EMP thingy anyway, soooo....

donut debonair (donut), Friday, 18 March 2005 01:36 (twenty years ago)

BWAHAHA - JEFFRODESIAC!!!

The JaXoN 5 (JasonD), Friday, 18 March 2005 02:47 (twenty years ago)

It was fun meeting you, donut, even if you are a nipple bandit.

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 18 March 2005 03:45 (twenty years ago)

I saw him tonight J.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 18 March 2005 06:53 (twenty years ago)
