I think you'll find that Wild Angels was earlier *and* superior.

Well, to paraphrase Hell's Belles... "Biker movies. Humph! They're like men. All the same."

Knightriders was the 1st movie George Romero made after Dawn Of The Dead.

Heres a comment from the 1st link on the Jack Nicholson film.

Nicholson as the Poet!, 11 July 2004
6/10

This Richard Rush biker film is better than the Wild Angels, Angels Unchained, Devil's Angels, Cycle Savages, The Glory Stompers, or The Savage Seven. First of all it has the beautiful and talented Sabrina Scharf (from Easy Rider) who later became a Senator or some such thing. Adam Roarke was always a good addition to low-budget films and Nicholson shines as the Poet (a somewhat reluctant biker to begin with).

None of these films is high quality, but this one has some refreshing scenes that stand out. A 6 out of 10. Best performance = Jack Nicholson. If you can find it, it's worth your time. Richard Rush has always been a good director.

The Born Losers! Billy Jacks first screen appearance! Jane Russell as a sleazy alcoholic!

Wow now - Knightriders is a MASTERPIECE. I just cannot see how you're asking "which is worse"? when we're talking about one of Romero's best five movies (after the Dead trilogy and equal to Martin).

Have you even seen "Knightriders?"

I actually own this on VHS: Bruce Dern, Harry Dean Stanton, and Jack Nicholson raging in a small beach community. There's a party where the sterotyped Mexicans actually dance around a hat.

I'll have a harder time recommending this one, circa '74. The Black Six are all played by NFL players, including Mean Joe Green, and they're nice.. they help old people and beat up redneck southern bigots. The evil biker gang all dress like Vikings, with fur vests and horned helmets.

sixteen years pass...

the best decade for biker movies is from around 1965 to around 1975!

Psychomania

xp That's pretty much the only decade for biker movies. Anything else is kind of an outlier.

Pschomania's really great, always loved that flick.

There's a bunch of these to watch for free on Amazon Prime now

The end of "Hell's Angels on Wheels" is a total WTF.

I love all the Billy Jack movies as that stuff was redneck tv crack back in the day. I had two uncles that were crazy about those movies and I remember being a kid in the 70s staying with my kinda wild aunt (RIP) and staying up half the night about age 7 (so '77) with my cousin ans sister and watching a bunch of those and episodes of The Big Valley. It was the first time I ever remember ordering a pizza and having it delivered to the house, as we never did that at my house as a kid.
