My mate Dave, one of the nicest people you could ever have met died of a brain tumour this morning, age 32, fucking 32!!! WTF is up with this world. I don't know why I'm posting this here, it's not like it makes it any better.

Ah Bill, I wish I wasn't so fatigued with death as I am at the moment (two big ones for me already this year, and it's not even spring yet), but I'm really sorry to hear this. Premature death's a lousy business whichever way you look at it. But of course all kind thoughts, for whatever they may be worth.

That's terrible, Billy. Take heart! I've lost old friends of the same age ...and even much younger. An old schoolmate was shot down in Afghanistan, more than twenty years ago. Another one, a really close mate, suffered a severe illness and chose to go on his own accord. It's still quite difficult to put up with their absence, honestly. But I do remember many a marvellous thing from the lives we lived together, way back. And although it's certainly hard to find consolence in this right now - our best friends who've left us way too early, they do not ever leave without a trace. They really don't. Our best memories of them, even if so painful at first, will evetually, hopefully, be our balm...

Well, it was the funeral this morning and it was as good as it could be. Lots of love, laughter and tears. I don't think I've laughed so much with one person or cried so much over them. I miss him terribly.
