Oh, and Bob Dylan's 1966 Royal Albert Hall concert which I inexplicably haven't gotten around to until now

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 10 March 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

Ooh JBR, I covet that. What sites are you all downloading from? I was using lokitorrent, but now that's down.

Leon the Fatboy (Ex Leon), Thursday, 10 March 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

My usual Torrent crawl, post-suprnova post-lokitorrent post-demonoid:

filelist.org (not big, but fairly general)
tracker8.zcultfm.com:6969 and trackerb.zcultfm.com:6969 (comics)
btefnet.net (recent TV)
tracker.zaerc.com (Daily Show, oddball movies like Rockula with the vampiric Toni Basil)
torrentmind.com (general, forum-based)
tvtorrents.tv (recent TV)
myspleen.net (small, general, the only place I see Robot Chicken)
www2.digitaldistractions.org:8080/torrents.php (TV, mostly Food Network, documentaries, stuff like Mythbusters)
uknova.com (Brit TV)

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 10 March 2005 21:59 (twenty years ago)

Thanks Tep!

I just downloaded Kiki's Delivery Service, Laputa, and Lupin III (Ghibli madness!). These aren't queued though because somehow I managed to luck into an Azureus configuration which gives me BLINDINGLY FAST download speeds. Like, before I was happy to have over 20kbps but now I routinely go over 275kbps (is that the right speed suffix thingy? I always get confused what with the dividing by eight and all).

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

That would be fantastic! If there's anything I can send you in return, let me know.

Leon the Fatboy (Ex Leon), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:33 (twenty years ago)

I'm trying to get a Muslimgauze track, but it's stalling at 99.6%.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Thursday, 10 March 2005 23:26 (twenty years ago)

nothing because i can never get the bitch to work properly - i spend more time trying to get things like this to work than actually downloading, listening or watching anything :(

Sven Bastard (blueski), Friday, 11 March 2005 00:18 (twenty years ago)

Mac OS X users check out the oddly named Bits On Wheels. It's my fave client so far.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 11 March 2005 07:17 (twenty years ago)

i managed to download an episode of Scrubs and the Mirrorball documentary on Jonas Ackerlund last night, but it was pretty slow. i hope i have opened up the ports properly thru my router config (i still get a yellow dot not a green one - any ideas?)

how do you create 'queues' in BitTorrent? does Azereus or some other third-party utility handle that?

Sven Bastard (blueski), Friday, 11 March 2005 11:23 (twenty years ago)

Some clients handle multiple torrents at once.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Friday, 11 March 2005 11:48 (twenty years ago)

ABC for example

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Friday, 11 March 2005 12:41 (twenty years ago)

torrentspy.com

Azureus does multiple transfers fine. You may want to give it a try because it only needs one port to be open and you can choose any one that is. It also has UPnP which will automatically configure your router if it is supported by it.

svend (svend), Friday, 11 March 2005 15:03 (twenty years ago)
