is that threats blow up really fast. i go away for half an hour, there's 40 new messages - how do you all keep up? do you just not read all the posts in a thread?

Maria (Maria), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:11 (twenty years ago)

er, threads, not threats

Maria (Maria), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:11 (twenty years ago)

threats too!

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:13 (twenty years ago)

do you just not read all the posts in a thread?

exactly!

how's college, maria?!?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

No! No! No! That's not the problem with ilx; that's a problem with ilx.

Aimless (Aimless), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:17 (twenty years ago)

how do you all keep up?

i follow a thread until (a) it gets too long (b) i get bored with it (c) both.

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:18 (twenty years ago)

Jody's approach is the one I usually take.

Leon the Fatboy (Ex Leon), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:20 (twenty years ago)

i write all the posts (except the ones by ppl on this thread so far obv), so i don't have to read them

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

honestly you can skim most threads pretty easily. it's not like pearls of wisdom are pouring off the page! (no offense anyone!)

ryan (ryan), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:24 (twenty years ago)

I thought the problem was gonne be that we R ALL GAY

Don't Ever Antagonize The Horny (AaronHz), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:25 (twenty years ago)

that's the solution

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:27 (twenty years ago)

Damned plagiarist. They are all MINE.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:28 (twenty years ago)

see i wrote that (may god forgive me)

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:30 (twenty years ago)

I may forgive you.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

I mostly skip any threads I was reading at night if they aren't high enough on New Answers the next morning (unless I started them); that alone cuts down on a lot of time, and then there are topics I won't read, little signs of insanity like "the thread didn't exist yesterday, today it has three hundred posts," etc.

I think I've also subconsciously begun a sort of triage in which every time I start reading a new thread, I stop reading an old one. So way to go, Maria, no more Excelsior for me.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

If Ned you forgives prepare for eternal torment.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

little signs of insanity like "the thread didn't exist yesterday, today it has three hundred posts," etc.

those are the best ones!
...sometimes.

Don't Ever Antagonize The Horny (AaronHz), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:35 (twenty years ago)

If Ned you forgives prepare for eternal torment.

Yoda in SF?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:37 (twenty years ago)

Not sometimes enough. Once you've anticipated Kill Bill once, you've anticipated it a thousand times. Or something.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:39 (twenty years ago)

Come anticipate the Michael Moore documentary on Momus with me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:41 (twenty years ago)

Trucker hats optional.

Leon the Fatboy (Ex Leon), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

Now imagine the DVD commentary.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:44 (twenty years ago)

In the alternate ending, we find out that Pete had actually just made Momus up.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:46 (twenty years ago)

It's true I've not seen them in the same room together yet.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:48 (twenty years ago)

this thread is already way too fucking long. I'd like to blow up some threats also:

Ned, watch your back. OC isn't that far away.

HZ, tread carefully. I've got it in my mind to pwn you.

Nicole, one of my old nicknames was "Leon the Bastard". Obviously we should duel.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Thursday, 10 March 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

Ned, watch your back. OC isn't that far away.

There will be other FAPs. You will attend. Midgets will be discussed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 23:24 (twenty years ago)

i'm still laughing at the Lamer hand cream. that's the good stuff. the problem with ILX is the discussion. more funny stuff, less pointless arguing that nobody reads, rendering it a waste of time for everybody involved, despite their thinking that they are making a handful of unbeatable points and that everyone is reading it all with scorecards and shit, waiting to see who is the WISE WINNER, and unravelling the space/time continuum in the process. omgwtf.

La Mer cream - good.
Your squabbling - bad.

As a lurker, i consider you people to be here merely to entertain me. Stop getting sidetracked.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 11 March 2005 12:26 (twenty years ago)

I enjoyed arguing about Tarantino....considering I've never seen any of his films. I guess thats called trolling.

kate/thank you friendly cloud (papa november), Friday, 11 March 2005 12:28 (twenty years ago)

well, i consider that entertaining at times. not that i partake.

hm. unless my last post was trolling. oh my. you think?

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 11 March 2005 12:34 (twenty years ago)

As a lurker, ... -- g-kit

Whom yous trynna kid, eh?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Friday, 11 March 2005 17:29 (twenty years ago)

I just read the last couple of responses and pretend to know what's going on!

It's essentially an ego-trip.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 11 March 2005 17:34 (twenty years ago)

every now and again there are some really nice 10-15 post threads on ilm, btw, so read those. otherwise be really selective. i only click on abt 20% of it and I feel that's enough.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 11 March 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

Come anticipate the Michael Moore documentary on Momus with me.

"The thing you have to understand, Michael, is that there's nothing in the world more natural than sharing your bed with a child. It's just a beautiful, loving thing to do. Don't you take children to bed? You do? But they fall off the edge? Oh, I see."

Momus (Momus), Friday, 11 March 2005 18:46 (twenty years ago)

Too few meta threads.

Frank Kogan (Frank Kogan), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:16 (twenty years ago)

i'm 90% lurk.

g-kit (g-kit), Saturday, 12 March 2005 09:20 (twenty years ago)

g-kit, seems you are a lesson to all the rest of us - you do make mere 10% go a loooooooooooooooong way! ;)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 12 March 2005 11:01 (twenty years ago)

clearly, i r teh awesome

g-kit (g-kit), Saturday, 12 March 2005 11:23 (twenty years ago)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 12 March 2005 11:47 (twenty years ago)

I can't keep up, so only read my own posts.

nathalie barefoot in the head (stevie nixed), Saturday, 12 March 2005 12:36 (twenty years ago)

I only read Nathalie's posts too.
