Yes there's Ellen de Generes and whatserface... but I get the impression that celebreity coupledom doesn't happen nearly so often in the gay world as in the straight world. Famous gay men tend to go out with non-famous supporting role types. Offhand I can't think of one famous man who has gone out with another independently famous man. Help me out here...

There's some dispute as to whether Gary & Cary were really a team though isn't there. As for Elton John - that's more the norm. Famous gay man takes younger nonentity lover, who then becomes a bit famous himself on the coattails of the relationship. I'm wondering whether these alpha gay men aren't bit more unreconstructed in their masculinity than their heterosexual counterparts, who seek out women with equal status? Or perhaps this is pure bullshit!
