The worst is people doing this with sunglasses INSIDE. I also hate blokes putting glasses on the tip of their nose. "No, it does not impress me much.You do not look like a professor, but a bloke with glasses on the tip of your nose."

Matt, I know. I have this horrible tendency to do the opposite of what I say. It even drives ME insane. :-)

...to inspire those endless "Where are me glasses?" "ON! YOUR! HEAD!!!" jokes so beloved of 50s comedians.

I used to hang glasses/sunglasses from my collar while not in use. It stopped me from losing them.
